Viitna was known already in the Middle Ages. In the 19th century there were fourteen taverns by the route Tallinn-Narva. Taverns were used as post stations, for lodging and people could have their meals as well. On the left there was a stable for the horses of the rich folk and two rooms for the gentry. Now here is the tavern's restaurant. The wooden tavern has been restored after the fire. It was reopened in July 1993. An old roadside tavern, 74 km from Tallinn towards Narva.
