Where have I been? Its been a while since I wrote any posts on this blog. What have I been up to? Quite a few things actually. I’ve changed companies, bought a new house, got married to the woman I love. to name a few. I’ve also been intrigued by the finance world and I spent the last few years exploring various rule based investing strategies, which are now live and am using them to invest my savings. But thats a topic for another blog. JavaScript and CSS minification. Custom components we had to build.

Standard CSS3 Selectors | JavaScript rambles

https://vikasrao.wordpress.com/2012/04/21/standard-css3-selectors

Here’s a table with all the standard CSS3 selectors. This is a really great reference and this can be used to either query nodes using dojo.query. Or to use in a browser which supports these. Most modern browsers do, IE versions will have quirks as usual so don’t rely on this in Internet Explorer 8 and below. Also, this table is from the above linked dojo.query page, I just find it very useful to have it handy during programming. An element of type E. An E element with a foo attribute. E[foo = bar ].

JavaScript – Common Array operations | JavaScript rambles

https://vikasrao.wordpress.com/2012/04/01/javascript-common-array-operations

JavaScript – Common Array operations. Below are a few common operations one might come across. I’ve used Array.map() and Array.forEach() at times which requires JavaScript 1.6 or higher, but I’m not sure if older versions of Internet Explorer would support them. You might have to use a regular for loop there or use a library like Dojo, etc. To check if an element exists in a 2-D array – Needle in a Haystack. To check if 2 arrays are equal:. Japan travel 2 | Feral Chicken

https://feralchicken.wordpress.com/2014/06/22/japan-travel-2

Take a walk on the wild side! Last time, I talked a little bit about Japan travel. And this time, I’ll talk about my experience using some of the internet cafes while I was over there. That we stayed at provided complementary wifi access, but as with most complementary wifi, it wasn’t reliable. We also rented a Softbank wifi hotspot at the airport, but it was not very reliable, either. I needed to get some work done, so I figured I would go for an internet cafe. Damn, I lost 300 yen…. I don’t think...

Take a walk on the wild side! Since my old hosting provider’s west coast servers just went dark and they were unresponsive to support, I decided to transfer my domain away, and now I am pointing it to a new virtual server. I’m going to try publishing my own site using Jekyll through there:. I probably will shift all my blogging there since I will now be able to blog from the comfort of my own terminal. We’ll see how it goes. Two weeks ago, I went to Paris to attend the 2014 CGAL developer meeting. Conten...

Polynomial parser in C++ using Boost.Spirit | Feral Chicken

https://feralchicken.wordpress.com/2014/07/06/polynomial-parser-in-c-using-boost-spirit

Take a walk on the wild side! Polynomial parser in C using Boost.Spirit. Posted in Figured Out. I’m sorry, the initial code compiled but didn’t work. It’s been updated now, along with the blog. First of all, here is a link. To the code. It depends on Boost.Spirit, which is a header-only part of the Boost library. It compiles, and it parses bivariate polynomials (e.g. xy 2 2x – 5y). Japan travel #3: Sausage at Kyodai | Feral Chicken

https://feralchicken.wordpress.com/2014/06/28/japan-travel-3-sausage-at-kyodai

Take a walk on the wild side! Japan travel #3: Sausage at Kyodai. This is picking up from my last Japan travel. There are a lot of loan words in the Japanese language, and this can be convenient, endearing, and absolutely frustrating at the same time. Add in the fact that Japanese love to abbreviate things and you’re assured to never have a dull moment. The convenient thing about loan words is that Japanese has specific notation called katakana that explicitly indicates foreign words. The. A view from th...

Diary #23: Trying to face forward | Feral Chicken

https://feralchicken.wordpress.com/2014/08/26/diary-23-trying-to-face-forward

Take a walk on the wild side! Diary #23: Trying to face forward. I often find myself getting into this mood where I want to do something that I know I should have spent more time doing, but out of fear of how much it’s going to hurt because I had put off doing it, I end up putting it off even further. It’s my nature to care more than I should about what other people think, and combining this with the negativity I mentioned ends up being very debilitating. Diary #22: A lot of little things.

Diary #22: A lot of little things | Feral Chicken

https://feralchicken.wordpress.com/2014/07/20/diary-22-a-lot-of-little-things

Take a walk on the wild side! Diary #22: A lot of little things. Well, it’s hard to blog about a lot of little things, so I’ll clump them all into one. Since publishing the vim addin as a standalone plugin, people have starred the repo on github. I feel obligated to go to work on it and also a little guilty for not spending much time on it. Maybe dedicate an hour or so daily to looking up the API and jotting down plans on the wiki so that the project actually has a freaking pulse. Enter your comment here.

A little bit about everything. Satisfaction is the heart of life but yeh dil maange more (heart wants more). There are a lot of things left to do and a lot of places left to see before I’d be able to say that I lived the good life. Not that I think that my life is lacking in anyway whatsoever (except for the more than occasional bout of procrastination when I am at home, it’s more or less perfect).
