Lagos is the nearby town with it’s culture and history dating back to Roman times. It was from here in 1514 that Prince Henry the Navigator launched his fleet to seize Ceuta in Morocco setting the stage for Portugal’s age of discovery. The town is a maze of cobbled streets with pavement restaurants, cafés and bars. Zoomarine (shows with dolpins, sealions parrots, an aquarium and childrens' rides) can be found on the main road between Albufeira and Lagoa (you will pass it on the road from the airport). You can also swim with dolphins (need to book this). If you want wet and wild, try the waterpark - called Slide and Splash (our son would spend all day every day here, but he doesn’t get the chance very often, as it’s rather noisy and hot) Located off the old main road before Lagoa coming from Lagos.
