Villa Cara is an ideal location in which to unwind, yet it is within easy reach of the famous towns and prehistoric sites of the Dordogne. The locality is a birdwatcher’s delight, with more than 50 species to be seen, from the exotic hoopoe to the buzzard. For hikers, one of France’s prettiest grandes randonnées runs close by the hamlet, although there are many other walks of varying length in the area. It is also superb cycling territory. The nearest village, Abjat-sur-Bandiat, where there is an excellent butcher and baker as well as general store, post office, restaurants and bars, is 6km distant. The nearest town is Nontron, 14km distant, offering a full range of services. A pick-up service from Angoulême station (served by TGV and one hour’s drive) or Limoges International Airport (45 mins) is available by arrangement. All linen and towels (except beach towels) are provided and there is a laundry service.
