Born in South Africa in 1947, Pete Smit was raised on the magnificent Cape Peninsula. In 1970 he headed for Australia, and soon discovered himself better suited to more practical pursuits than he had been used to. More importantly, Pete Smit very soon realised that he had arrived in the land of his dreams, and he embraced this new freedom with great enthusiasm. Click on image to see enlarged view. Nothing sets my senses tingling more than the streaming light and shadows coming towards me, through the gums at first light on a frosty morning; or the ocean spray as it forms a fine mist over the coastline on a late summer afternoon. Paul was born in Melbourne in August 1945. He had no formal art training but developed a love for painting at an early age. In 1978, he became engrossed in wildlife art and concentrated on improving his technique. In 1985 he became a member of The Wildlife Art Society of Australasia. John Pearson was born in Sydney in 1958, where he developed his love of the sea and boating with family holidays to the beach, and weekend trips to favourite spots on Sydney's beautiful waterways.
