I’ve been lately visiting Norway often to learn from. This time the whole bunch of masters was available. Grant Moon, Jonathan Nunn, Jesper Eriksson,. Won the four man draft shoeing in world Championships in Calgary in July and three of the team members placed in top ten in the overall results. One step forward again! Evaluating the horse walk.

Norwegian Championships is a nice competition and this year the athmosphere was quite international. Besides of competitors from Nordic countries, Norway (of course), Finland, Sweden and Denmark, there was also competitors from England. Nice! It’s getting better every year. Won the 1st division! From Norway, 2nd. From Sweden and 3rd.

And then the practice. Most of the hoof cracks are result of weaknesses in basic shoeing work, mainly in the hoof balance. That is why it is so important to be able to see the correct balance and trim the hoof to it. That gives a you a clue for your shoeing work. To be honest, actually it may be that I’ll be shoeing very soon indeed, because my adventures will begin today by an educational weekend trip to Sweden, where I’ll be able to do some forging and perhaps shoeing.
