Gerrit's blogger blog: September 2008
http://gerrit-undefined.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 21, 2008. I could not help myself and bought a new laptop yesterday, the old one had a batterylife of 3 minutes, a powercable that is broken, missing keys and buttons (had to turn it on with the help of a paperclip) and was becoming veeeeeryyyyy slooooooow. The new one is an Acer 5715Z, system-wise nice, got everything, the sound is nice enough so you can watch a video and understand what people say without the use of headphones. Needless to say I probably will test Linux on it.

Gerrit's blogger blog: December 2008
http://gerrit-undefined.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html
Thursday, December 4, 2008. Could not get to sleep last night and was listening to a BBC World Service Program about food nanotechnology. The original broadcast is reviewed here. And you can find a link to the program too. More links and articles on this blog. It comes down to fucking with your food on an atomic level, this can also happen in real life in a natural way (smoked salmon). Some products are already poisoning the Americans (and Australians ( Don't buy Tip Top Bread. With training for doctors ...

Gerrit's blogger blog: July 2008
http://gerrit-undefined.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
Thursday, July 31, 2008. Some background on the Nieuwendammerdijk: It is named after Nieuwendam. An old village that has been there for centuries. It was a port an became prosperous because the port was a lot cheaper than the port of Amsterdam and, I suppose, because of the import of wood. The Noorder IJ en Zee dijk is a dike going along the coast of what used to be the sea and is now is the IJselmeer, not only in this part of Amsterdam but along a big part of Noord-Holland. Links to this post. So now ev...

Brittle Road: Dark Night of the Soul
http://brittleroad.blogspot.com/2010/06/dark-night-of-soul.html
Tuesday, June 1, 2010. Dark Night of the Soul. A friend told me I was going through a dark night of the soul. That's her explanation for the way I've been feeling lately. Dissatisfied, alone, wishing I could pin down what's on my mind that's making me feel morose and disconnected and acutely aware of the fact that I don't matter. She told me it's one of the toughest things I'll ever go through. That's a scary thought. June 2, 2010 at 5:42 PM. Im suspicious that I may just be mildly depressed and letting ...

Brittle Road: The Death of Creativity
http://brittleroad.blogspot.com/2012/08/the-death-of-creativity.html
Wednesday, August 22, 2012. The Death of Creativity. These last two, and now three, days my right ankle has been sufficiently angry at me to prevent me from talking my usual morning walks. Instead, I have tried to return to creative writing, posting little bits and pieces of stream-of-consciousness writing here. As I read what I have written, the fog in my brain begins to lift and reveal the desolate landscape it has been attempting to hide. Let's see, what other useless crap can I write about? I thought...

Brittle Road: Listening to the Emerging Morning
http://brittleroad.blogspot.com/2012/08/listening-to-emerging-morning.html
Sunday, August 26, 2012. Listening to the Emerging Morning. For the second morning in a row, I awoke late, though this morning I was up before 5:30. Yesterday, it was after 6:00 before I got out of bed. This is odd for me, in that I'm normally up before 4:45. While there is very little traffic, most of the cars I see seem to be operating urgently. They speed by as if their drivers are consumed with FOCUS on the destination.time's-a-wasting and I gotta get to my church service! Subscribe in a reader.

Brittle Road: Toying with the Internet
http://brittleroad.blogspot.com/2013/09/toying-with-internet.html
Monday, September 23, 2013. Toying with the Internet. It has been a year since I abandoned this blog in favor of a new one. I had aspirations, I did! My new blog would coincide with a new me. The mindless chatter of Brittle Road. Would be left behind, and good riddance! I would begin a new life, a life far more interesting that the life I led and shared on Brittle Road. The paragraphs above might suggest the reason for this post, don't you think? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Subscribe in a reader.

Renate: June 2008
http://rengrein.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html
Life is a highway - I want to ride it all night long. Returning from Mainz, I had the choice between the two trains and since it didn't make any difference as far as catching my connection in Cologne, I chose to take a slower EC train and maybe even get some photographs this time. Of course it rained for the first 15 minutes or so, which means that taking pictures was not easy. Though I tried. Somewhere after a couple of bends, the rain stopped and the sky slowly started to clear up. Only one thing is mi...

Renate: Kiva - loans that change lives
http://rengrein.blogspot.com/2009/01/kiva-loans-that-change-lives.html
Life is a highway - I want to ride it all night long. Kiva - loans that change lives. I saw it on Kees' blog. He picked it from someone else's - and maybe someone will pick up the idea from my blog: joining a microfinance. Organisation, investing a little of the money we have in a loan for someone who will do more with it than go to the movies or a restaurant. For starters, I have decided to contribute to a loan applied for by a group of 5 women in Pakistan. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Renate: January 2009
http://rengrein.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html
Life is a highway - I want to ride it all night long. Thinking of people is easy. It doesn't require an effort. You just do. Staying in touch, making the effort to write or phone regularly, is a different story. At least I seem to botch this up regularly. But it doesn't mean I forget. Today I finally found a trace again of someone I spent time with decades ago. In Occidental College, Glendale, CA, to be exact. Ginny kept on walking, I didn't. Her trail diaries. Do they have cheese in Harburg? Wall of rem...
