There and Back Again
3,960 Miles – Vincent Van Goes
http://vincentvangoes.com/2016/09/26/3960-miles
There and Back Again. September 26, 2016. One more beautiful night in Vail. My options were one more night in the most beautiful place I have been or brave 40 mph wilds in Moab. I camped out on piney lake road,. Which was far more secluded and had a better view than my first spot in Colorado. I opted to wake up to this. Next day, Arches. This one looks like a lions head. Camping spot right outside Arches entrance. I miss the mountains. The desert is stark and beautiful, but I belong in the mountains.

There and Back Again. October 11, 2016. Machu Picchu was spectacular. The mountains in this part of the Andes are not like any I have ever seen in North America. They are like hundreds of spires rising a thousand feet above so that the pinnacles are almost straight up, like great green solid tsunamis. You could hurt yourself gazing up at the summits from the bottom of the valley in Aguas Calientes. After 14 hours of sleep we hopped the train back to Cusco. Many people in the Cusco region work 10 to 12 ho...

There and Back Again. September 13, 2016. Yesterday I drove 500 miles across Wyoming. I pulled over and could see all the way to the horizon in both directions. After putzing in the van for 5 mintues, still no one had passed me. I spent the night at the base of Devils Tower. I paid $12 for a camp site, which allowed me access to real bathrooms and potable water. Not showers though. Nothing exceptional happened. Togwotee. At breakfast, some things never change. Here is a better picture. Click to share on ...

There and Back Again. September 22, 2016. I was a bit disappointed last night when I camp to my came spot and it was a big gravel turnoff. Well, it was an absolutely gorgeous place to wake up in. I love this area. I want to win the lottery and buy a mansion near Vail. Next stop Arches National Park. Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window). Where I’ve Been. Bandar Seri Begawan to Miri. I think that most people go the other direction, moving East across Borneo. I started in Kota Kinablu, visited Brunei, and then headed further west. Where I’ve Been. Two Days in Manila. I left Hong Kong behind with a handful of memories and new friends. From there, I found a pretty cheap flight to Manila, Philippines. Visiting Sapi Island – Feet of a Nomad
http://www.feetofanomad.com/travel-blog/asia/visiting-sapi-island
Where I’ve Been. October 8, 2015. A bunch of fish in chrystal-clear water. After being introduced to Kota Kinabalu. Or KK for short, I made a plan with Lyn to go to Sapi Island, a small tropical island just off the coast of KK. The islands in that area are known for their beaches and reefs, so I grabbed my cameras and we met up at, you guessed it, Starbucks. The approach to Sapi. It’s on the left. Printed on the back. I wanted to take a picture and put a caption,. Some folks getting off their boat. The b...
