Prevents the engine being loaded when the accelerator pedal is depressed suddenly and then released. It accomplishes this by slowing the closing rate of the throttle as it approaches the idle position. This allows the engine to dissipate the raw fuel discharged into the intake manifold by the accelerating pump. Follow the recommendations and overhaul procedures given in the Service Manual. This Supplement will list all exceptions to those procedures. See the list of recommended tools in the Service Manual.

There is also a fuel inlet system. It provides the fuel metering systems with a constant supply of fuel. Primary bores of the carburetor creates a low pressure area in each venturi. This low pressure is commonly referred to as a vacuum. Normal atmospheric air pressure in the float chamber causes a metered fuel discharge into the low pressure area in the venturi. Is reduced. The venturi vacuum produced by this reduced air flow is insufficient to operate the main metering system. The high manifold vacuum resulting from these conditions provides the pressure differential used to operate the idle system.
