The Code Writer's Wife. My life as a non-techie in Silicon Valley. When you can’t not tell the truth. Trying to teach an android how to lie. From the BBC comedy,. My son is high-functioning autistic. Until he moved on to another interest. He’s also good at telling the truth. Bluntly. He calls it like it is. And that’s not always bad. Case in point: Last night on the phone, my diet-obsessed father excitedly rattled off the benefits of a new wheat-free diet from a book he was reading. He encouraged me ...

More of What Matters. Our adventures in living more simply. Skip to primary content. These are our lists of what we hope our simple living efforts will help us edit out and find more of:. Sitting around indoors (unless we really enjoy it). Thinking stupid things matter. Being manipulated by marketing and shops. Stress about buying perfect gifts. Ready meals, takeaways, unhealthy ‘treats’. Doing what’s expected instead of what feels right. Stuff we don’t need. Stress, pressure, worrying. Use out of things.

Books & Essays. Anniversary of Dorothy’s Death, February 12, 2005. February 12, 2013. Dorothy Stang was all about love, for her family, her Sisters and the peasant farmers of Brazil for whom she gave her life. There is a piece circulating today which I gift. My readers here. It includes a wonderful photo of her. It is as good as I could have written and it reminds us not only to work for better gun control but also to work for peace. Comments… read them below or add one. Too Much Stuff? | ReIgnite Your Life
https://gayleslinger.wordpress.com/2011/06/14/too-much-stuff
Who are you now, what do you really want and what are you waiting for? Laquo; Where Are You Now? Really. Honestly. How much stuff do you need? Really. How much do you have? How much do you want to keep? And what can you get rid of? Remember that Rubber Maid commercial with the family that had “too much stuff! The family’s house was overrun with clutter; toys, clothes, sports equipment, you name it, it was everywhere. More stuff.”. It seems no matter how small or large our homes are, we will fill them full.

Llama Momma: awkward silence
http://llamamomma.blogspot.com/2011/11/awkward-silence.html
Thursday, November 10, 2011. I’ve been quiet for so long on this blog, it feels strange to say anything at all. Hey It’s me. I’m still alive over here, busily raising three boys and wearing any number of other hats: writer, friend, editor, wife, mother, cook, housekeeper. Should I keep going? But you’re busy too, no doubt. Everyone I meet seems to have a couple of lives going. I’ve been thinking about this space and how I want to fill it, or even, if I should. November 10, 2011 at 3:16:00 PM GMT-4. And, ...

Llama Momma: March 2012

Wednesday, March 7, 2012. I pile the stack of books on the counter with a thud and smile at the librarian as I hand her my library card. 8220;No kids today? 8221; She asks. 8220;No. Just me.” I say. 8220;Now, I have to ask you,” she says, in her rich European accent, “you have the three little boys, yes? 8220;Yes.” I won’t pass this comment on to the noisy boys, who are ten and would take great offense at being called little. 8220;My dear,” she asks as she scans Wednesday Wars. How do I have time to read?

Llama Momma: May 2010
http://llamamomma.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 28, 2010. Today is our first day of summer vacation, and my boys would rather be in school. They don’t want a break. They want to keep going. Even the promise of science summer camps and unlimited books at the library isn’t enough to persuade them. They’d just rather be in school. We’ll balance all this fun out with chores and math facts, but mostly, we’ll hang out at the pool. That’s just the way I roll. Do you savor summer break with your kids? Will my house be loud?
