Old Fashion Candy In A Historic Setting. Virginia City is a preserved Victorian mining town located high in the Rocky Mountains of Southwest Montana. Gold was discovered here in 1863 and the town became the Territorial Capital in 1865. When gold ran out, there was not enough wealth to remodel. The town froze architecturally, and today represents the Victorian era. The main street is an exceptional example of mid-1800's architecture and many of the structures are original.
