September 13, 2016. September 13, 2016. After a glorious August, where the only downside of the freakishly hot weather was that it grew some of the biggest spiders I have ever seen in my life, I’m back at my desk and ready to dive into novel number four…. 8230;because my legs really are that that slim and smooth. At the end of the summer term I sent my finished manuscript, Lucy’s Locket,. Jenni reread her manuscript and realised she really was an undiscovered genius and master of comedy. On Diving InR...

My Tricky Middle
https://jennikeer.co.uk/2016/04/27/__trashed
April 27, 2016. May 12, 2016. However, as a writer, the REALLY tricky middle is the troubled waters I have to sail myself through in order to get to the magical island of The Finished Novel. Having been on this journey a few times now, I always seem to have trouble halfway through my journey. So this blog is my thoughts on why, and what I need to do to get back on course. This will be easy peasy. Hmm… Getting a bit choppy out there…. SO where am I going wrong? But that’s what he does! Self doubt starts t...

Way back when the daffodils were in bloom… oh, hold on, I have freaky winter daffodils out at the moment. Way back when daffodils are. To bloom, my first novel Dead Gorgeous was shortlisted in the Choclit Search For a Star competition. Dead Gorgeous will always have a special place in my heart, and who knows? It may yet make it into print. Robert John Whitton. So when is a ghost not a ghost? May 13, 2016.

A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to Book Four…. October 25, 2016. February 6, 2017. So what have I been up to recently? And why is my bunting covered in question marks? Well, here’s the thing. Novel number three, Lucy’s Locket. Fast forward three months and like buses, all the feedback pulled into the bus stop together. I read the various reports and comments, expecting united cries pointing out my errors. Perhaps I had an unbelievable character? Or a plotline that didn’t work? Or issues with style?

News, Booze and the Need to Snooze. July 13, 2016. February 6, 2017. Hello lovely people. I’ve been heads down with the novel, trying to get it finished in good time for my New Writers’ Scheme deadline, and feel I might have neglected you all rather. And that simply won’t do. So I thought I’d pop by and update you on the fun stuff I’ve been doing since My Tricky Middle, and in between the hours of dedication at my keyboard. In March I attended the RoNAs. Wow – what an event. Iona Grey. I started to atten...

The Underwire Bra of my Writing Life. February 29, 2016. March 3, 2016. No, not some piece of faded, lucky underwear I’ve had since 1989 that I don every time I sit down to my keyboard…. What I’m talking about here is support. The kind that only an underwire bra can give. Quick aside – how cool is my bra bunting? I KNOW – RIGHT? You know but who you live up the road from…). The underwire in my bra. These are my number one fans – and rightly so. They want to support me and want me to succeed, bu...I showe...

Being a Social Butterfly – The Duty of the Author. February 14, 2017. An author’s life can be a lonely life. Don’t get me wrong – after years of intense child rearing, the solitary nature of the lifestyle works for me during the working day, but I feel it is important – nay ESSENTIAL – to connect with real. Oh – and cats. Most authors seem to be surrounded by cats and I’m no exception. Blindcat and his best bud. So having established the necessity of it all, what socialising have I been up to? At a local...
