I've been using cacti for about 7 years now and its proven its worth a hundred times over. Combined with the NetworkWeathermap. Plugin, it can give you an excellent overview of your network for trending and performance management. Its open source, has an active community and you can make it graph almost anything if you are willing to write the scripts. Plugin (that you will be using spine.
