Visit My Garden: March 2014

http://www.virtualvisitmygarden.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Plants in the Garden. Sunday, March 23, 2014. In an effort to add more flower power to my fall garden, I added several new hardy chrysanthemum varieties last year. These are all (*supposedly*) true perennial chrysanthemum types that really are winter hardy and will return for many years. Of course we have to take any claims about chrysanthemums with a grain (or bucket) of salt, so we'll see. In this, their first year of bloom, all were small and sparse, but they flowered nicely and did liven up the fall.

Visit My Garden: January 2014

http://www.virtualvisitmygarden.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html

Plants in the Garden. Thursday, January 9, 2014. I like BIG hosta and I cannot lie. (Sorry, couldn't resist.). I actually used to despise hostas, and swore I would have the only hosta-free garden in America. But I have now come to appreciate these plants, especially the REALLY REALLY big ones. The bigger the better. They make such a good texture contrast in the shade garden, where everything else tends to be ditty-bitty and makes my head hurt. Hosta 'Abiqua Drinking Gourd'. In my garden I currently have ...

Plants in the Garden. July harvest, including 'Costata Romanesca' squash, parsley, 'Maxibel' haricots verts, piracicaba broccoli, cucumber, tomatoes 'Jaune Flammee' and 'Black Trifele'. It's also a fun and healthy activity to do with a young child. My grade schooler will roam through the garden grazing on raw veggies she would not dream of eating if they came from a refrigerator. Here are some of our favorite vegetable varieties:. I grow tomatoes using Kozy Coats. Brandywine' - my favorite. Unparalle...

Visit My Garden: Garden Tour

http://www.virtualvisitmygarden.blogspot.com/p/garden-tour.html

Plants in the Garden. My yard is on a typical suburban lot, about 10,000 square feet. I'm doing my best to cram plants into every available inch. (I've even considered removing the driveway - such a waste of space! But my ever-practical husband points out that this would make it somewhat difficult to reach the garage.). Map of my garden. 1 The Rose Garden. Rose Garden in June. Rose Garden in Early Spring. Rose Garden in Late Spring. Rose Garden in Early Summer. Rose Garden in Late Summer. 2 The Peony Bed.

My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece." Claude Monet. Tuesday, May 5, 2015. Tip Toeing Through The Tulips. The most stunning sights I have ever seen. Tulips, tulips and more tulips. My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece." Claude Monet. Sunday, June 1, 2014. It Was In The Stars: A Visit To The Italian Garden Of Villa D'Este. On a recent spring trip to Italy, I found myself in a small town outside of Rome and the stars in the heavens were aligned in my favor. It was a constellation of circumstance lined up like Orion's belt. I had a rental car, my husband, who was willing to drive the Italian roadway, and the realization that we were about 40 minutes or so from Tivoli. Multiple t...

My garden is my most beautiful masterpiece." Claude Monet. Thursday, March 19, 2015. Finding My Zen In A Garden. I had the opportunity to spend three weekend days in Anderson's LaCosta garden nursery in a north county beach community of San Diego. It was December, and I was invited to participate in an artisan holiday marketplace to sell succulent plant arrangements. I spent the days in a lovely location in a shady spot,. Surrounded by plants, and chirping birds. These sunny looking aeoniums. I was in a ...
