Wednesday, May 27, 2009. V's Charecterization- Week 2. Francis Ford Coppola wanted a certain look for the different characters in the movie. Here's what I am thinking what Francis thought in 1972:. Vito: Strong presence on the screen. This character must look like a caring grandfather but, when he needs to he can be harsh. Michael: Exact copy of Vito (except the grandfather part). THIS relationship between the two characters might give us a clue as to who becomes the next Godfather if Vito dies.

Right away the thing that popped out at me was that Sonny/Santino has a soft spot for his sister Connie. So far in the movie, Sonny has always been protecting Connie and the rest of his family. The package talks about the hero being a warrior or a person who goes through some adventure. We were talking about Michael being the hero, could Vito also follow his own Hero's Journey?
