St. Somewhere Journal: Diana

http://visitstsomewhere.blogspot.com/2013/07/diana.html

Drag your white skull before blind seas. That tumble dazed to your mono-eyed magic. Go tell Neptune when the night is through. Charm him, too, with your waxing and waning. But you can’t catch me with those veiled half smiles. Your borrowed brilliance exposes you. As I know your darker side. Go charm some other star struck rhapsodist. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). St. Somewhere Journal: secret shack

http://visitstsomewhere.blogspot.com/2013/07/secret-shack.html

Hidden behind a thicket of boughs. Alive with snarled vines. Was a pink shack with a lopsided door-. A leaning sentry guarding rotted wood floors. And ripped curtains of tangled lace. And a broken clock’s face where the hands. Had stopped at half past four. Snapping open a blade. I crudely carved my name above the door. Then distracted by a mezuzah. Tilted on the frame. The blade slipped on the tail of the letter y. Slashing through history and time. Splicing through the door screen. A ticking time bomb.

St. Somewhere Journal: The Haunt of Alma Negron

The Haunt of Alma Negron. Sammy awoke when a soft, slimy thing fell on his face. With a swift stroke he slapped it. Away not knowing what the wet thing was. A draft enveloped him. Alma forgot to shut the. He thought shivering on a rock-hard bed in a damp room. Feeling for the bed. 8220;Sammy, look! A wonder of de universe.”. 8220;Sweet thing, eh. Is me lucky night, Steady.”. Alma sat facing them. The rum punch in her glass shook mildly as she swayed on a stool. 8220;You think you could catch her? 8220;Of...

St. Somewhere Journal: Island Time

http://visitstsomewhere.blogspot.com/2013/07/island-time.html

The antiquated aircraft had been up and down at least a half a dozen times since it had rumbled into the hot, blue sky. So far none of the islands had even slightly resembled Isaiah’s childhood home. This was definitely not the tropical paradise he remembered as a kid. What had happened to the puffy white clouds? A metallic gray haze floated under the shadow of the wing. Where were the towering green mountains? 8220;Actually the way up and the way down are one in the same,” the Mystic, who was now ...

160;       . 160;                                        . The Poetry of Nathan Schaffner. The Bijou Poetry Review. Sunday, February 20, 2011. You lit my piano on fire. And I set your heart ablaze. These are my last nights in this southern city. Something is brewing here. And stutter one second in the future. I can predict trouble now. Avoiding conflict is my one true talent. And step in to a alternate reality. Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Metal crunches and scrapes. Snakes hiss out venom. She spoke thr...

For the the first time. In a long time. I've been walking on air since. And then I remember. It was all a dream. As my capsule rockets. Tuesday, July 27, 2010. I push my pen forward. To leak out these feelings so. They don't boil over inside. You can feel me. I know you can. On the edge of your seat. If the world is real.

160;       . 160;                                        . The Poetry of Nathan Schaffner. The Bijou Poetry Review. Monday, July 20, 2015. My Mind is a Stream. From my back porch. I can look up and see. Galaxies tumbling like the oak leaves. Falling from the tree to the northeast of me. Stars blurring with increased speed. Mind racing to catch a comet. To reach out and bleed infinity from my finger tips. This multicolored life spewing from my open mouth. These seconds that spin Suns across the sky.

160;       . 160;                                        . The Poetry of Nathan Schaffner. The Bijou Poetry Review. Thursday, June 25, 2015. Breathing smoke and small town wisdom out with each breath. These are the passing summer days. When humidity rules as king. Restlessness is a natural state. Waiting for the Air to break. The Sun to set. The Stars to start their nightly watch. The future is far and unimportant. Now is the only thing that is real. Dreaming of escaping their cages.

Everything you've got in your pocket. And not a penny less. Don't fear the microscopic physician. He is here to make it all better. Let me lay frozen in time. While they rearrange my spine. Meanings for the name vary, it was suggested in the past as gain or profit island being both fertile and a good place for fishing, however the name could be related to the Old Norse "strond" beach, or even stiarna - star island, due to its shape. The Dutch were fishing for Herring in Orkney waters in late Norse times and by the 17th century had. Stronsay can be reached daily by sea and air from Kirkwall.
