Visual Studies: March 2009
http://sarahevansvisualstudies.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html
Tuesday, March 10, 2009. Day 2: Images and Technology. Is the fact that we can no longer view images without technology embedded into their subtexts completely reflective of the world that we live in? Does this mean that there is always a ‘technological middleman’ involved? Are we losing an element of humanity in the images that we create today? Saturday, March 7, 2009. Day 1: The different layers of seeing. My class expectations and background. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Day 2: Images and Technology.

triciasreflections: What is he saying and is he trying to say anything?
http://triciasreflections.blogspot.com/2009/03/gabriel-orozco.html
My blog of images and reflections for A&H501.003Introduction to Visual Studies. Friday, March 20, 2009. What is he saying and is he trying to say anything? When I initially found this video, it was in a search to refresh myself on the notes we had taken in class. So much information that first and second day of class, I couldn't remember one artist from another, so went on a google search to see if I could find those works and artists mentioned so I could reconnect them in my own head.

triciasreflections: Art Gallery Amateur
http://triciasreflections.blogspot.com/2009/03/art-gallery-amateur.html
My blog of images and reflections for A&H501.003Introduction to Visual Studies. Saturday, March 21, 2009. I just liked it! I wasn't sure what to think of Alfredo Jaar exhibit. Still don't. May give more thought to it and post additional thoughts as they come to me. Is there a catharsis in creating works that reveal such raw negative emotion? The Postmaster gallery was the most humorous of all we saw. Those candles were funny; by making candles of obsolete objects it seemed a street corner shrine to t...

triciasreflections: Classic beauty
http://triciasreflections.blogspot.com/2009/04/classic-beauty.html
My blog of images and reflections for A&H501.003Introduction to Visual Studies. Wednesday, April 15, 2009. From a recent Life magazine spread of photos of classic film beauty Audrey Hepburn. I like the sunlight coming through the colors of the umbrella, making the actress seem more luminous, with a natural innocence to her beauty. Thursday, April 16, 2009. Our Image Assignment for Flickr. Though the photos I used from AP, Time, and other sources were so much better quality, coming up with ideas and making my own statements through pictures taken with a digital camera, cellphone, or Flip camcorder was so much fun! triciasreflections: "Just Looking"
http://triciasreflections.blogspot.com/2009/04/just-looking.html
My blog of images and reflections for A&H501.003Introduction to Visual Studies. Friday, April 3, 2009. When I read the article entitled "Just Looking" I was puzzled by some thoughts about the concept of looking. It made me think of my own beliefs about looking and seeing, and inspired a search of scripture regarding the eyes and looking. The author writes,. How can the author say that we aren't distinct from the world? Another quote inspired reflection. Think of the times we avert our eyes, when we glanc...
