viva PowerPC
http://vivapowerpc.blogspot.com/2015/03/new-address.html
This is just a quick info: domain vivapowerpc.tk is not anymore, please update your bookmarks to the new URL: vivapowerpc.eu. Previous domain was lost for reasons beyond my comprehension - one day free .tk domain was transferred to paid mode and as I wasn't willing to pay for obscure top-level domain, I bought a fresh new one. If you visit just vivaPowerPC blog on vivapowerpc.blogspot.com. There is no change for you, but if you use PowerPC blog aggregator (WORLD in top menu), this change will affect you.

PowerPC Liberation: G5: Nouveau & 2D Acceleration
http://powerpcliberation.blogspot.com/2015/07/g5-nouveau-2d-acceleration.html
G5: Nouveau and 2D Acceleration. DISCLAIMER: None of what you'll read below is of my own work, but mostly a summary on what I read about on the Debian PPC mailing list. I have what I believe is somewhat exciting news for G5 owners in regards to using Nvidia cards and the open source nouveau driver, but more testing needs to be done! What I'm about to explain and show should hopefully be able to allow you to at least achieve 2D acceleration. As already known from my previous post. On why the nouveau drive...

Debian Testing for my iBook G4. I was thinking about which OS to install on iBook yesterday. I just got over a pretty frustrating. Experience in that department and was looking for something not too easy but more enjoyable. So Jessie is now stable and since my iBook is my "testing" machine why not install Stretch on it? The freeze is probably lifted for testing so I want to see how long I can ride before my sudo apt-get update & sudo apt-get upgrade. So I went and got the netinst iso. Then when your logi...

PowerPC Liberation: Best Under the Radar Linux Apps
http://powerpcliberation.blogspot.com/2015/06/best-under-radar-linux-apps.html
Best Under the Radar Linux Apps. So here are a few of my favorites:. 8211; This is a calculator app that's as comprehensive as I've seen. Currency exchange, functions of every kind, and graphing are among the many features. 8211; Seems to be primarily a handwriting app, but it also features simple PDF editing. This is great for filling out government forms where you only have to enter some text and a signature and you don't want to deal with LibreOffice. What are your favorite under the radar Linux apps?

Dropbox announced in the recent past that they are dropping support for PowerPC. I'm late to the table posting about this, but have been as busy as ever, and fellow author here Dan wrote about it. I'm not a Dropbox user at all personally, but since my friend Logout from viva PowerPC was concerned enough to write an open letter. To them, which I will include below, I thought this was well worth informing the readers here about. Here is his open letter to Dropbox:. Dear members of Dropbox team,. Subscribe ...

After about a year or so with the mobile version of this blog disabled, I have decided to enable it again. The reason I disabled it in the first place is that Blogger gives you very little control over it. After getting requests, from both readers and Google, to make the blog more mobile-friendly, I have decided to do so. I would like the mobile users who visit here to share any thoughts they might have to make their experience better. Non-mobile users can view that version of the blog here. For further ...

PowerPC Liberation: December 2014

This post is simply to explain to all the commenters here that Blogger's comment system fully supports HTML. This will allow you to make URL's clickable and such. Once I have spare time to write more CSS code here, I want to try and make it so URL's in comments will be made clickable automatically, but until then (and I'm not even sure how successful that will be), you can use HTML. Here is the code required to make URL's clickable within comments:. B a href="www.url.com" URL Title /a /b. Reporting my fi...

Grab a Qup ;) of QupZilla! Admit it, you laughed. A reader and starter of this Ubuntu forum thread. Alerted me to the existence of a (relatively) new browser with the pun-proliferating name QupZilla. Since it's a good idea to have at least two web browsers on your system, and since Midori seems to be having difficulties lately, I'm on the lookout for a second browser to complement Iceweasel. And being a webkit browser, QupZilla seems to fit the bill. So is it any good? Friday, November 21, 2014. It's abo...
