In our constitutional framework, the role of a judge is limited to interpreting and applying the Constitution and duly enacted laws. A judge must defer to the policy choices made by the legislature and not attempt to impose personal preferences or policy from the bench. David Viviano is the 109. Justice of the Michigan Supreme Court and was appointed on February 27, 2013. Justice Viviano was re-elected by a vote of the people in 2014. Prior to his appointment, Justice Viviano served as Chief Judge of the 16. Judicial Circuit and Macomb County Probate Courts. He was first elected to the Circuit Court in 2006. Justice Viviano received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Hillsdale College before attending law school at the University of Michigan.

A mob was in action and I had never seen one before.
