the kitchen drawer: DOMAIN: the late Full Strawberry Moon or perhaps the early New Buck Moon

Every kitchen has a drawer that collects the pieces of our lives that don't quite fit. Monday, June 8, 2015. DOMAIN: the late Full Strawberry Moon or perhaps the early New Buck Moon. He answers and I ask how soon he can be home. My voice gives away my urgency and he asks why and I answer "because there is a live groundhog in the pool.". AND so do I. Yet, I did not ask the inhabitants of the acre I "own" if I could move in 16 years ago, I simply moved in to the empty nest (house) and took over domain.

the kitchen drawer: September 2014

Every kitchen has a drawer that collects the pieces of our lives that don't quite fit. Tuesday, September 23, 2014. Eyebrows; End of the Harvest Moon. I look at my reflection. All I see are eyebrows. Not the birthmark that normally consumes my gaze, or the chicken pock scar near my mouth, or the sledding scar poorly stitched along my jaw. No. Just eyebrows. Dark slants of hair arching from the bridge of my nose. They are so OBVIOUS. Brown but not my brown. But don't you notice anything else? I shake my h...

Every kitchen has a drawer that collects the pieces of our lives that don't quite fit. Tuesday, April 22, 2014. Spiders Up my Nose.and Between my Toes! Waning Pink Moon Slumber. You are not really here." my husband said to me as we both sat on chaise lounges in the bright sunlight. I asked reflexively. I heard him, but that made no sense. Such a Buddhist thing to say. So very much like him. But something felt wrong with me and right with his words. I sigh again. Turn to the heavens and try to remembe...

Every kitchen has a drawer that collects the pieces of our lives that don't quite fit. Wednesday, August 27, 2014. Turmoil- The Start of a New Day; Chapter Three; waxing gibbous Harvest Moon. In the streets and in our hearts. So much useless suffering. I am so tired of being defensive and guarded. (The shields won't take it Captain! May you be happy. May you be free from pain and fear. May you walk at ease in this life. So please, smile at me and I will smile back. It is simply me. It is so very easy to ...

The Fragile Egg
http://thefragileegg.blogspot.com/2015/02/this-way-up-like-mile-markers-on.html
Friday, February 27, 2015. Effort. That's what we need to focus on each day. We've got enough shrapnel coming at us from all directions to knock us off our feet. Each day, we need to put on the shield of effort, to stay grounded and within ourselves. Faith is good to have, true, but when it's done in the dark and without effort, it can be blinding. I've spent some time wondering about my situation and how to make it better, craving for a simpler existence. What does that mean, simpler existence? My pract...

The Fragile Egg
http://thefragileegg.blogspot.com/2014/05/quieting-static-i-recently-completed.html
Thursday, May 29, 2014. I recently completed building a tiny platform out of leftover pavers from prior projects in the wooded portion of the backyard. I built it to use it as an outdoor meditation area; a place to give me a different experience in my practice. I've used it twice this week to sit and for sure, it does present a different experience. Evidently, yes it is. The drone of trucks as they fly down Route 206 in their effort to get to Point B. May 29, 2014 at 6:24 AM. June 18, 2014 at 12:30 PM.

The Fragile Egg: January 2014
http://thefragileegg.blogspot.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Tuesday, January 28, 2014. Tension is all throughout life. People tend to see tension as a bad thing but if it is truly all around us, how can it be bad? Should it not be something that we accept and learn from? To build muscles, we must put them under tension. A rubber band when engaged is under tension, keeping the contents below it in an organized state. Without tension, music would be drab and dull. Saturday, January 25, 2014. The day prior, I had woken in a bit of a down mode, but I cleared the haze...
