Baldwin’s Range ( Mt Borah ). This is a nice and easy activation. Starting at the Oxley Lookout overlooking Tamworth there is a good walking track up to Flagstaff Moutain approximately 6klms return. The track is well defined as the locals use it for there daily exercise. There are a couple of picnic tables on the way if you want a break. Just follow the signs to Flagstaff Mt as there are some offshoots which are all well sign posted. On reaching the top there is a Trig Station and a sign.

Baldwin’s Range ( Mt Borah ). NW-172 is a very easy summit to activate as you can drive to the top, with views looking over the town of Bingara. We moved down the face of the summit slighly as the towers and transformer take up a lot of the room. Keeping to a small area near the edge as on this paticular day there was a lot of visitors. Activated 21 September 2014. This was my second activation of Mt Vinegar with much better weather this time around compared with my first activation of this summit back on 2 June 2013. As soon as the FT-817 was set up, my first contact on 40 metres was an S2S with Rod VK2TWR on VK2/ST-020 and then worked a steady stream of chasers until my last contact with Amanda VK3FQSO. This is just for QRP operation, so no high power levels going through the box. It allows me to hook it up to a power source, eg battery and then able to safely connect three separate devises but for me it is usually just QRP rig and auto antenna tuner.
