The choir performs two or three concerts a year, at a variety of locations across England and Wales. A selection of our posters gives a flavour of the concerts, each of which is structured around a theme and incorporates new repertoire.

Vocalium loves performing and is always willing to consider a new venue if you think you will have an appreciative audience. We often sing in churches but are equally at home in private or historic locations, especially where these have a Tudor influence. We do not require any accompaniment so provided the acoustic is good we can sing virtually anywhere. For more information, we’d be delighted to discuss options with you.

Dale Webb founded Vocalium in 2011 to explore links between contemporary and Tudor choral works. He had developed a passion for Tudor sacred music whilst studying at the University of Aberystwyth under David Wulstan, whose scholarship and choir (The Clerkes of Oxenford) were key to the resurgence of interest in Tudor music. Dale sang as an undergraduate with the Elizabethan Madrigal Singers (MADS), becoming chair of the MADS alumni and in 2010 publishing a book chronicling the choir’s 60 year history.

Vocalium draws together singers from across Britain who share a love of Tudor and contemporary sacred and secular music. Vocalium rehearsals and concerts take place across the country, and the choir makes its annual musical retreat to beautiful Shapwick House.
