Allow Me To Introduce Myself....: October 2010

http://voicetothevoiceless-allowme.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, October 27, 2010. NPR fires Juan Williams for. no reason at all. Can a man be honest of his own misperceptions and openly speak that without fear of losing his job? Admitting these perceptions is more beneficial to the conversation than ignoring or denying. I also argue that as a journalist you can NO longer be seen as impartial and fair. Everyone has biases; however, the goal of a good journalist is/should be separating those biases from the story. RIGHT? Thursday, October 14, 2010. Although ...

My Black Is Beautiful: I Digress....We Can't Move Forward or Acquire Change Because of the Same Mindset of Ignorance

http://agift4rmgod.blogspot.com/2012/11/i-digresswe-cant-move-forward-or.html

My Black Is Beautiful. Wednesday, November 7, 2012. I Digress. We Can't Move Forward or Acquire Change Because of the Same Mindset of Ignorance. Last night, my Facebook was filled with hatred, bigotry and racist talk and sprinkled with a mixture of ignorance from both sides. I was in such disport because of the behaviors of my so-call friends that I had to wake up and post a disclaimer on my Facebook page. On many occasions, I have sat in my office and heard conversations that were very offensive and hurt...

There was 67,000 mainstream news stories that were reported from February 2009 through February 2010. Out of those stories only 643 (1.9% ) were related towards African Americans. In a significant manner. Hispanics and Asians received even less coverage than this. Hispanics received (1.3%) and Asian (.2%). The Pew Research Center.

Thursday, November 11, 2010. When we think of black owned media outlets we assume BET, but it was sold by Bob. Johnson to Viacom in 2004. We naturally think of Oprah and her Harpo production and OWN network. We often overlook and do not mention Cathy Hughes. In 1979, Hughes founded Radio One, and with then-husband Dewey Hughes bought AM radio station WOL 1450 in Washington, D.C.Her fortunes began to change when she revamped the R&B station to a 24-hour talk radio format. Labels: Black Owned Media Outlets.
