The pitch: Does branding have a future?
http://pitchmarketing.blogspot.com/2010/07/does-branding-have-future.html
The rougher and readier cousin of Marketing magazine. You'll find ideas, gossip, commentary and a touch of cynicism as we flex our journalistic muscles beyond the constraints of our monthly mag. Friday, July 02, 2010. Does branding have a future? I remember about 10 years ago that many people in “the industry” predicted that branding, like several other aspects of business, would die at the hands of the internet. The concept experienced a reincarnation of sorts in last few years. It’s also true tha...

Monday, May 10, 2010. Needs to propel itself further into the plans and budgets of advertisers. IAd intends to present advertisers a mobile ad platform with more impact, delivering “interactivity and emotion”, as Jobs puts it, by giving creatives a richer canvas to work with, blurring the line between...One unkno...

Friday, July 09, 2010. The Digital Sweet Spot. 2009 was the year “Minority Report” finally came to life with augmented reality interaction – and you facing up to the reality that privacy is now as confidential as a fish bowl after Facebook made private information searchable. With the exponential growth of online...

A+M: Battle of the boots
http://ambootleg.blogspot.com/2010/06/battle-of-boots.html
Monday, June 14, 2010. Battle of the boots. An interesting battle is emerging at the 2010 World Cup between Adidas and Nike - and it happens everytime a goal is scored. Adidas are the official ball of the World Cup, a pretty prestigious tag to be. And one that guarantees repeated brand exposure through action replays and close-ups which invariably occur when a player scores a goal during the month long tournament. There's just one problem - Nike are getting lots of exposure too. While Adidas has only had...

A+M: What's the big idea?
http://ambootleg.blogspot.com/2010/06/whats-big-idea.html
Tuesday, June 1, 2010. What's the big idea? You know World Cup fever has peaked when even your admin staff starts sending you links to football ads. On this particular occasion, the really interesting part played out in the commenting section - not in the ad. You can view it here. The ad was made by an advertising school so its not good if their students are stealing ideas. And just as I was starting to feel a little judgmental myself, a different comment caught my eye. So what if it's been done before?

A+M: Volvo's PR accident
http://ambootleg.blogspot.com/2010/05/volvos-pr-accident.html
Wednesday, May 12, 2010. A Volvo demonstration in Sweden of its new collision warning system fell to pieces last week, literally, when its S60 model smashed into a parked truck. Luckily for us, Wired.co.uk was there to document the PR nightmare and you can watch the video here. A nightmare scenario for any brand. Reminds me of the time when a BBC reporter broke a phone that was being marketed as "unbreakable" during filming. Clip below. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Follow us on Twitter.

A+M: Singapore's World Cup draw
http://ambootleg.blogspot.com/2010/05/singapores-world-cup-draw.html
Tuesday, May 11, 2010. Singapore's World Cup draw. I think most Malaysians would have felt a perverse sense of amusement at watching the "car crash" that was Singapore's recent bid for the FIFA World Cup 2010 broadcast rights. Then, from a marketing point of view, it started to get really interesting last Friday when finally, with less than a month to go before kick-off, SingTel and StarHub secured the non-exclusively broadcast rights. For the upcoming tournament in South Africa, the World Cup trophy wil...

A+M: August 2009
http://ambootleg.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html
Monday, August 31, 2009. Started my Merdeka weekend on a bus to Singapore then a ferry to Indonesia's Batam island for some fun in the sun. Is it me or are the cigarette advertisements in Indonesia getting out of control? I couldn't get a decent shot from camera as the bus sped along but here's what I can describe to you from memory of one of the more shocking executions:. For the younger demographic but being positioned as cool and macho enough so you don't think its for women. Which reported about Phil...

A+M: October 2009
http://ambootleg.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Tuesday, October 20, 2009. Another day in Malaysia, and another high profile international artists postpones a concert days before the event is scheduled to go. This time it was Beyonce’s turn to disappoint – and disappoint she did if we are to believe the official word from organisers who have denied the move was due to the threat of protests by Muslim groups. If the name of the organizer sounds familiar it’s because the company also had to deal with Akon’s last minute pull out. Links to this post.
