Do you know how much I love doing covers for Mark Nijhof? I appreciate him so much for pushing my skills and my patience with Illustration further. He is a fun and challenging customer to please. So every time I have the opportunity to work for him, I can't pass it out. On this cover, we went back to the origins of Erlang: telecommunication. The vintage switch board is a wink to the functional languages that were created in the late 50s. Turning knobs, adjusting dials and pushing buttons!

With a interesting title like this one, I included in the mood board a series of caution icons that could be positioned in a grid. But the fun part was combining them to make a story. The poor guy has no chance to survive all that's coming to him. After a couple of iterations with the typography, we decided on a strong and bold type: Bebas Neue.

Working with Sebastian on the cover for my leanpub book was a lot of fun! We talked through some concepts then he quickly iterated the design, the whole process took just a couple of days. I'd recommend leanpubcovers to any leanpub author. After a few different samples, we settled on diamonds shapes to describe the architecture of the book and a path of arrows that make up the movement from concrete programming concepts into more abstract notions like critical analysis and business.
