Science using VPHAS data. Thanks to the Hα narrowband filter, VPHAS will reveal emission line objects of the following types:. Wolf-Rayet and other massive evolved emission line stars. Compact planetary nebulae and rapidly evolving post-AGB stars. Be stars of all types - including young Herbig stars. Clustered and field T Tau stars. A range of interacting binary stars: symbiotics, 'supersoft' compact binaries, WD/NS/BH accreting binaries. White dwarfs and hot subdwarfs, horizontal branch stars.

VPHAS is an ESO Public Survey. Hence all data will be released through ESO. Initial data products include reduced images and unstacked single-band source lists. Science using IPHAS data. 219 million have been detected at a typical seeing of 1.1 arcsec and cataloged in DR2. The important object classes that IPHAS data readily distinguish include:. The IPHAS Observing Programme. Period: Aug 2003 - now. Filters: r, i, Hα. Depth ≈ 21 (r), 20 (i), 20 (Hα). 5° 29° l. Median seeing: 1.2". Observing began in semester 2003B. The INT/WFC Photometric H-Alpha Survey of the Northern Galactic Plane (IPHAS) is a 1860 deg. Imaging survey of the Northern Milky Way at red visible wavelengths. It covers Galactic latitudes b 5° and longitudes l = 30-215° in the broad-band r, i and narrow-band Hα filters. The most recent data release, DR2, is described in Barentsen et al (2014).
