Dyck's Pycks: Contested ground
http://dyckspycks.blogspot.com/2014/04/contested-ground.html
Friday, April 4, 2014. Part of our inspiration came from witnessing the powerful and harrowing stories of residential school survivors at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission. Which concluded this past weekend in Edmonton. We were able to see a free concert, featuring Cris Derksen and a host of other artists (from many different backgrounds). Flying Down Thunder and Rise Ashen. That don't get much airtime, as well as some that do ( Ghostkeeper. A Tribe Called Red. Pow Wow. Wow." - Cris Derksen.

Dyck's Pycks: Mother's Day
http://dyckspycks.blogspot.com/2014/05/mothers-day.html
Sunday, May 11, 2014. This week we aired our Mother's Day special: another eclectic playlist with a some semi-relevant, mother-themed tracks thrown in for good measure. From silly folk songs to heart-wrenching ballads and indictments of systemic injustices, it's an odd mix of tunes from across the map. How I Met My Mother" - Guided by Voices. Welfare Mothers" - Neil Young and Crazy Horse. This Song Was Supposed To Be Called 'Existence Is Futile' But Revocation Stole It From Us" - Open Letters.

Walking In The City. A non blog A real blah Est. Edmonton 2006. Monday, February 15, 2010. Fort Mac: first take. I stepped off the red arrow at its final stop at the central bus depot and a swarm of cab drivers, I want to say from Lagos, but I have no idea, all came forward offering a ride who’s picking you up where are you going do you need a ride I can give you a ride anywhere you like. Walking In The City. A non blog A real blah Est. Edmonton 2006. Sunday, November 16, 2008. 3 Very Short Thoughts. Being within the University institution has left me mostly out of the loop, but have been reading and writing lots with thought, which is now slower than ever before. but perhaps worth it. but I question my sanity and its relevance. Thinking about urban identities in terms of social ecology, a city's sprawl is the social ecological equivalent of human obesity. Posted by Amy Fung.

Walking In The City: August 2008

Walking In The City. A non blog A real blah Est. Edmonton 2006. Thursday, August 14, 2008. The evening started at latitude 53's last patio of the season. a perfect night for martinis, wine, i even wanted a beer, sitting around with good friends and pretty flowers, the day's work done. You could live a whole life in a night like this, all of it unfolding, lotuslike, under a waxing gibbous moon. Sunday, August 10, 2008. I found it hilarious when recent artists summed up their week long residence at a brand...

Walking In The City. A non blog A real blah Est. Edmonton 2006. Wednesday, July 30, 2008. Someone please tell me why Edmonton is worth staying in? From a chorus of discussions over this past week culminating to a quiet corner conversation tonight at Martini's, I have come to a semi conclusion: Edmonton has no heart. People leave, come and go, and it's simply expected. Transient city. No heartbreaks. Shallow ties. Unstable roots and unable to grow. Posted by Amy Fung. Friday, July 25, 2008. Nor could I be...

Walking In The City. A non blog A real blah Est. Edmonton 2006. Thursday, September 25, 2008. Maybe it was hitting a car on my bike one day, then getting hit by a car while on my back the next day. Maybe it is the 2 elections going on in North America. Maybe it is losing my Grandma and my Father within months. Whatever it is the world seems closer to chaos to me than ever before- in order to fend off the feeling of empending doom I went for a walk one morning. Posted by Little Red Riding Hood.
