Designing, building and effectively using a Rover station is a very evolutionary process. Tom and I have learned a lot over the past few years of roving. The following (in roughly chronological order) are some things we learned both good and bad over the years. Also a very poor setup in the well known inclement weather! Our route for roving in the September 2005 contest was as follows (Note that we do change the route from time to time, and in fact for 2007 we are considering dropping FN21 and FN31 since they are not rare grids at all, and instead going further north to FN35 and FN34.). Sunday morning at Hogback. Barely visable cell tower in background is about 1/4 mile away. View on arrival at Lookout Point Sunday afternoon.Trees in background are between 50 and 100 feet away. View down the hill from Hogback. You normally can see a long way like the photo on our main web page. Car is about 50 feet away. Not good driving conditions. View of the Inn where we stayed at Point Lookout from where we were parked. It is about 50 feet away.
