Wakely Dam Ultra Run. The Damn Wakely Dam Ultra. Is a trail run through the peaceful Adirondack Park Wilderness of New York State along a remote and uninterrupted section of the Northville Placid Trail between Piseco Lake and Wakely Dam. There are no cross roads. There are no aid stations. Wakely 2008 Runner Photos. Wakely 2008 Fun Photos. Wakely 2009 Mark Reinertson’s Shots. I’ve been attending this great Adirondack race as a support crew member for the past several years. Good fun!

The Long Trail Back: Not what was planned
http://thelongtrailback.blogspot.com/2010/11/not-what-was-planned.html
The Long Trail Back. Wednesday, 17 November 2010. Not what was planned. WALK IN WALK OUT - NOT THIS TIME. Monday 7.30am I checked into the new Day Surgery unit at Stobhill for keyhole surgery to my left knee. I had a tear in my cartilage that needed to be repaired and at my initial meeting with the Consultant he said it would be a straightforward procedure lasting about 30 minutes. He also said that I would not need crutches and would be walking right away and back jogging in about 3 weeks. I have 4 type...

The Long Trail Back: Knee Update
http://thelongtrailback.blogspot.com/2011/01/knee-update.html
The Long Trail Back. Saturday, 15 January 2011. Walking off the beach. Sunset New Years Day. Saltire in the sky from poolside. Operation to knee resulting in at least 6 weeks in crutches. Use crutches to get to the end of our street but have to stop and rest at the turn as arms and hands aching. It's only 300 yards there and back! Start physio twice a week. Use crutches to get to parents' house, covered about 1 mile with lots of stops. Getting around no problem on crutches, although cannot go outside ont...

http://ultraturtlerunner.blogspot.com/2011/01/long-and-winding-road.html
Life in the slow lane. Wednesday, January 19, 2011. The Long and Winding Road. Winter morphed into Spring, which blew right into a hot Summer. Summer flew by quickly and cooler temps ushered in the Fall weather. Then suddenly Fall was gone and poof! It was winter again. So goes our lives. It's really true the old saying that "life is what happens to you while you're making other plans.". So how to catch up on nine months? Well here's the abbreviated story:. In between these two semi-disastrous races Peg a...

The Ultraturtle: Terrapin Mountain 50K
http://ultraturtlerunner.blogspot.com/2010/03/terrapin-mountain-50k.html
Life in the slow lane. Sunday, March 28, 2010. It's been a tough winter-let me say that right up front. House renovations, sickness, snow, snow, and more snow have-how shall I put it-killed any serious training for Terrapin Mountain 50K. I had intended to do the six race "Beast Series" but missed the first race due to pneumonia, and so approached this first serious race of 2010 with quite a bit of apprehension. Would my lungs hold out? Did I have enough miles in the bank to even finish the race? March 29...
