November 10, 2016. October 7, 2016. November 10 – 105 days. Because he’s been so slow at relearning to walk, they started him on an exercise bicycle, made possible with e-stim. They have to tie his foot to the peddle. The hope is that this repetitive motion will retrain his brain. He’s a bright kid, so he guesses well, but that’s not communication. Yes, he’s learned to say words, but it uses an incredible amount of concentration. October 31, 2016. October 7, 2016. Dylan has a cool birthday and we’ve always done it up big. This year, he can’t do much, but he knows that Halloween is his birthday. The rehabilitation center does a trick-or-treat thing around the facility. I guess the older patients enjoy it when the younger ones come by. November 5, 2016. November 5, 2016. I’m not sure what to think of that. He’s using the walker now on his own. He still needs help to stand, which they say is part of the neglect he suffers. Moving his leg is more automatic, learned from therapy and strengthened by the e-stim. He still walks a short distance, then stops and rests before going another short distance.
