walkderbyshire: December 2006

http://walkderbyshire.blogspot.com/2006_12_01_archive.html

Tuesday, December 26, 2006. More mists and frost. Here are a few more misty pictures, allied with some nice frosty ones. We had one of those very heavy, sticky frosts, so I made the most of it. The one picture I didn't get was one of a frozen spiders web - next time, maybe. These deadheads always hold frost well, but i just thought these two were particularly good. I stopped the car to get these pictures, doesn't this field look magic? I bet those cows don't appreciate all this beauty! Links to this post.

walkderbyshire: May 2007

http://walkderbyshire.blogspot.com/2007_05_01_archive.html

Wednesday, May 30, 2007. France 2007 - next 20 pictures. Well, here's the second instalment of pictures. I'm not sure I could pick a favourite day, as they were ALL fantastic! Maybe I should have a vote at the end LOL? Anyway, today we wanted to climb this mountain, called 'Bugarach'. There's a really good site with loads of information on the mountain, and area, here; http:/ www.perillos.com/bugarach1.html. Before any mountain assault, it's VERY important to relax. Just LOOK at the backdrop to this photo.

walkderbyshire: September 2006

http://walkderbyshire.blogspot.com/2006_09_01_archive.html

Thursday, September 28, 2006. Here are the two people that are responsible for three WONDERFUL holidays in the French Pyrenees. They are called Brenda and Mannes. So - thanks to them both as, without them, most of this would not have been possible, and I doubt we would ever have visited this stunning part of France. Walking on the hillsides and mountains in France is a sensory feast, as the smells are divine! Here's a big truck going through one of the small tunnels. But it made me ponder - what DO they ...

Tuesday, January 16, 2007. At the weekend, Kingsley and Froghall Station saw the arrival of a V.I.T. (very important train), the Great Marquess! Here are a few pictures, for those train spotters among you. Links to this post. Thursday, January 04, 2007. REAL ale - REAL warning! walkpeaks: November 2011

http://walkpeaks.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

A continuation of my walking descriptions and photos. Previous blogs are listed on this blog in link form. Wednesday, 30 November 2011. In search of Autumn. This year has been a really strange one, weather-wise. It's been far too warm, and it seems to have taken nature by surprise! Nothing seems to know what to do. Flowers are blooming when they shouldn't, birds are laying eggs (a clutch of 7 ducklings appeared last week), and the leaves don't know what colour to be! Not in THAT position, I haven't!

http://walkpeaks.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

A continuation of my walking descriptions and photos. Previous blogs are listed on this blog in link form. Friday, 30 December 2011. Lack of walks :-(. What with Xmas and all, we've not had a walk now for almost a month, so REALLY hoping the weather isn't too bad next week when we next get a chance. I DID get a chance to shoot up into the fields above Haddon hall to get some nice shots of it in the sun (which I failed to do on our last walk as the weather wasn't very good). And over towards Chatsworth.

http://walkpeaks.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

A continuation of my walking descriptions and photos. Previous blogs are listed on this blog in link form. Sunday, 30 October 2011. Lakes, part three. This is the deadly one - Fly Agaric. There were other flowers around too, some real surprises for us. I snapped this orchid. And, amazingly, a newly-flowering foxglove - in OCTOBER! This weather really was playing havoc with nature. We also called by Aira Force. Sue had seen this before, but I hadn't. With the night rains, it was quite spectacular. The top...

Peakwalks: June 2008

http://peakwalks.blogspot.com/2008_06_01_archive.html

Images of our walks in Derbyshire. Wednesday, 25 June 2008. Reef knolls and chips. We set off up the lovely cobbled alleyway towards the church and open fields. Sue and Dave chat as they walk through the flowery meadows. We soon crested the rise and saw High Wheeldon on the other side of the upper Dove dale. The young river Dove goes along this valley. The quiet woman - how so, I hear you ask? After refreshment, we set off towards the reef knolls of Parkhouse hill, (on left, behind us), then Chrome hill.

Peakwalks: January 2009

http://peakwalks.blogspot.com/2009_01_01_archive.html

Images of our walks in Derbyshire. Friday, 30 January 2009. We left Bakewell in the heavy mist, but with the glow of a blue sky slightly coming though. THIS was the sort of morning that showed promise! We planned to go up onto Kinder Scout, as we'd heard there was snow there last week, plus the weather man had said 'sunny all day'. I suppose we should know by now NOT to trust the weather man, but you like to believe, when it says what you want to hear, don't you? When we got to Castleton, it was MAGICAL!

Peakwalks: October 2008

http://peakwalks.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html

Images of our walks in Derbyshire. Sunday, 26 October 2008. Hail and hearty in Wildboarclough. A LOVELY DAY, said the weather forecast - and it looked nice (to begin with). This was the view as we drove towards Longnor. I suppose we should have suspected the weather man may have got it. Wrong when we saw this sky as we drove towards Roaches End to park the car, ready for this weeks walk around Wildboarclough. That 'lump' is Shutlingsloe, also known, rather grandly, as 'The Cheshire Matterhorn'. Just afte...

Peakwalks: March 2009

http://peakwalks.blogspot.com/2009_03_01_archive.html

Images of our walks in Derbyshire. Friday, 27 March 2009. Madeira - day three. Rain stop play! Day three, and we were excited! The van duly picked us up, and we were away! Here, lemons grew at the side of the walk. Weeeeelll, I NEEDED one or two for the gin tonight! Bless her, still smiling, despite the disappointment. Can you believe there are several people walking IN the levada to avoid a tiny bit of mud! Sue tells me this is an Agapanthus, a rose by any other name. I should have moved that twig).
