New England Holocaust Memorial. June 22, 2009 at 9:14 pm · Filed under Writerly Adventures. The Holocaust Memorial (dedicated 1995) is situated on the Freedom Trail. The memorial is made up of six glass towers and the stories of those who died are engraved into the glass walls of each tower. In July, I revisited Iceland, the country of my birth, and continued a long-term investigation of the relationship between the Icelandic environment and its medieval literary heritage, most famously the family sagas written in the thirteenth century. The above image is of Thingvellir, site of the medieval assembly often mentioned in the sagas. Are My Feet in the Way?

Paul Revere’s tombstone in the centre of Boston: the inscription reads ‘Paul Revere Born in Boston January 1784 Died May 1818.’.
