A Semester in Berlin: About this blog
http://asemesterinberlin.blogspot.com/p/about-this-blog.html
A Semester in Berlin. The second week of my Freshman year at Grove City College I was in the Study Abroad office enthusiastically wondering what it would take to get me to Europe for a semester. The study abroad adviser laughed and told me I had plenty of time to figure things out, but she was glad I was looking into it now rather than too late. I am studying at Freie Universität in Berlin, Germany from January - April 2013. This is my experience. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Map of Rachel's Travels.

A Semester in Berlin: Videos
http://asemesterinberlin.blogspot.com/p/videos.html
A Semester in Berlin. Here are links to videos I've taken on my trips. Most of them are panoramic views of incredible sights I've witnessed that simply could not be caught in a photograph. Even these videos do not do them justice. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! 100,000 waiting for Pope Benedict's Last Blessing. Rising excitement for Pope Benedict. Pope Benedict begins his last blessing. View from the Roman Forum. Panorama of the Raphael Room in Vatican Museum. Panorama of the Pantheon and Sophia.

A Semester in Berlin: March 2013

A Semester in Berlin. Wednesday, March 27, 2013. Nuremberg: Out of the Shadow. On Friday, March 15, close to 50 students from my program piled onto a train and zipped five hours through the beautiful German countryside into the heart of Bavaria (home of lederhosen and all things stereo-typically German). We were situated in a hotel just outside the old city walls where the iconic half-timbered houses beckoned us in. The building on the left is one of the oldest hospitals in Europe. While Nuremberg is ver...

A Semester in Berlin: One Year Later
http://asemesterinberlin.blogspot.com/2014/01/one-year-later.html
A Semester in Berlin. Tuesday, January 7, 2014. A year ago today I boarded the first airplane of many and started out into what would become one of the greatest adventures of my life. When I left I had no idea what was in store for me. A year ago today I could have never imagined what it was like to live with an amazing host family, or to become so familiar with the trains, buses, trams, and even airports in Berlin that they would become second nature to me. I could have never imagined that I would.

A nutritious Alaskan celebrating the culture, beauty, and (of course) food of Italy. Slow Touring Photography: San Gimignano. April 16, 2013. San Gimignano is a classic Tuscan hill town with 14 towers of its 72 original still standing. A few weekends ago, Ashley (my second apartment-mate) and I daytripped here. This well connects down to a cistern that’s filled by rainwater dripping off the nearby roofs. You can feel the soul of even the most touristy towns if you get there before all the other tourists.
