FortyFrumThing - Forty-something, single and newly frum. Tighten your gartel, folks, we're expecting some turbulence on this trip. Wednesday, April 21, 2010. Been offline for a few days because of workload. Israel Memorial and Independence day celebrations were moving and inspirational for me. Hope yours were same. Homeless man showed up at minyan yesterday. Asked for food and money. We all gave him money and kosher food from the shul kitchen. He borrowed tefillin and he davened! His own immediate family...

http://fortyfrumthing.blogspot.com/2010/03/rabbis-secretarys-daughter.html
FortyFrumThing - Forty-something, single and newly frum. Tighten your gartel, folks, we're expecting some turbulence on this trip. Wednesday, March 24, 2010. The Rabbi's Secretary's Daughter. After graduation from college, I looked for an apartment near the new job that awaited me. Saw a Reform shul. While searching, and stopped in. The rabbi was not in, but I asked his secretary for ideas on where a young single man in the area might look for an apartment. I went back to that shul. Guy to talk about.

So, what's the deal with women and voice mail? So I called Ann. No answer, left a voice mail. After a week without a call back, I called again. Again, no...In the la...

Frum N' Flipping: All It Takes
http://frumflipped.blogspot.com/2012/07/all-it-takes.html
Frum Israeli. Chutznik. Dosit. Flipped. Thursday, July 26, 2012. This story of mine appeared in Mishpacha's Sukkos Calligraphy, under the name "Newlywed Game". It's one of my favorite stories so far, so I wanted to share it with you guys too. It came under a lot of fire from Mishpacha readers, and I'm interested to hear what you have to say. I am a woman, at last. I look at my face, enveloped by the wavy brown. How much is this one? I'll take it" I say. "When will it be ready? L is meant for you! Shavuos...

Ink Stained Hands: November 2011
http://myinkstainedhands.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Not gone yet. ;]. Posted by inkstainedhands in exhibits. To make up for my silence these past couple of months, I'm linking to some of the things I've written for the YU Beacon recently. There's one about an exhibit of Janet Shafner's artwork in the Hebrew Union College Museum, titled "Dark Prophecies.". Then there is the article about the Medieval Festival. That occurred in Ft. Tryon Park on October 2nd. And finally, there is an article about my love for the Stern College Dramatic Society. Beauty of wha...

Ink Stained Hands: August 2011
http://myinkstainedhands.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Posted by inkstainedhands in friends. Was a fun night.). I also decided to read the seventh Harry Potter book again, realizing that I missed experiencing the magical feeling of the series. Also, as with any book, there are certain things that become more meaningful or clear when re-reading. This often happens as a result of one's own life experiences, which expand with every day and allow us to see things under a new light. Why do we fail to realize the effect that that can have on a person, either direc...

Ink Stained Hands: September 2011
http://myinkstainedhands.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html
Shana tova, dear readers! Posted by inkstainedhands in Judaism. Posted by inkstainedhands in life. We pass by thousands of people each day - strangers who will never be anything to us, and strangers to whom we will never be anything. Those faces pass before our eyes and fade into oblivion - and with them, thousands of opportunities to connect with other human beings, to have even a tiny little bit of impact on their lives. Make the world a pleasanter place one action at a time. My first year in Stern was...

Ink Stained Hands: Breaking Free - part I
http://myinkstainedhands.blogspot.com/2011/05/breaking-free-part-i.html
Breaking Free - part I. Posted by inkstainedhands in college. The problem begins when the child becomes his/her own person, learns, reads, is exposed to new ideas, experiences the world, sees firsthand what life is about, meets new people, and starts to create his/her own understanding of how life should be lived. This is about someone who is finding a place in the world, who wants to live with eyes and heart wide open. Naive? Perhaps. But also introspective, thoughtful, informed? May 16, 2011 at 1:17 AM.
