Walking Japan's Old Tokaido. July 11, 2011. On the learning Japanese front, I’m still not the wunderkind that would make a language teacher beam. Ito. Has saved some conversational Japanese cassettes (and accompanying books) for me, and that’s a blessing, but I”m still distractable by the little things. I was reading episode 23 of. And I came across. Doodling with Japanese characters. Michelle remembers Kazumasa showing her simple. And I’m been reading George Meegan’s book. And tagged Japanese language.

Walking Japan's Old Tokaido. OK, I’m back…. August 27, 2011. Moving Michelle to College did take a lot of attention and time, and the month leading up to it was packed with to-do items. She’s off at Penn State where the Forensics Department has the niftiest van ever:. I’m going to catch up on a few quick items here:. I finished George Meegan’s book; now I need to apply myself to learning some Japanese. To that end Ito. Also loaned us two movies–the incredibly sad-but-good. Densha Otoko (Train Man). Inspi...

Ugly Cookies and Other Sweet Calamities. Rainy Days and Mondays: Bad for Chocolate. I’ve Got It! The Secret of Tempering Unlocked →. Stirring Up Trouble: Fondant Failure. March 29, 2011. Another day, another. I bet you can guess what I messed up this time. Right. Fondant. For the record, Fondant is that shiny, hardened, icing-like stuff that makes fancy cakes look and taste so yummy. It’s like a lusciously smooth but brittle coat of armor for desserts. Oh, and you should know it’s pronounced fonn-. I fol...

For the Here and There category. Update that I’ve had in draft form for 4.5 months…. So, it’s been a while. And unfortunately, we haven’t had much time for traveling. Lots of work, school, and family stuff happening. Our first four nights we stayed at the Bahia Mar. After exploring the beach for a day, we traveled down Las Olas Blvd to Ft. Lauderdale’s Riverwalk district. We’ve been very busy this summer with work and school and life, but we are getting very excited for our trip to London! In other news,...

Review of London Park Lane Hilton: Room with a View. We stayed one night at this hotel for free using Hilton points. The hotel is situated at the edge of Mayfair along Hyde Park. We used both the Green Park and Hyde Park Corner Underground stations. They were roughly a 5-10 minute walk from the hotel. All in all, this is a very nice hotel. Our only issue being the wait at check in (again, we did arrive before the 3pm check in time). We would probably stay here again, but not at full price. The rest of th...

Review of our stay at the Waldorf London Hilton. We recently completed a four night stay at this hotel. We had no issues during our stay and were very impressed by the hotel staff. The hotel staff was extremely polite and professional and always very helpful. From the help of the concierge in locating a lost suitcase (lost by our airline not the hotel), to the cheerful greeting of the doormen, we simply cannot say enough good things about this hotel’s staff. We’ve been very busy this summer with work and school and life, but we are getting very excited for our trip to London! We will be gone for about 8 days and we plan to take in all of the big sights of course: Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, and Westminster Abbey. However, today while doing a random search in Google Maps, I found the place I am most excited to go: Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese. Any suggestions for places in either London or Seattle that are must-see but not well-known? Required fields are marked *.

Tom rejoined the group in NSWaS with his father, ready for the final triumphal progression into Jerusalem. He’d had a bit of a sneak-preview over the previous few days. They’d also been out to the Sea of Galilee, narrowly avoiding more Hezbollah rockets as they were in a deserted Tiberias the day it got hit for the first time, witnessing first hand the dislocation and chaos caused in Northern Israel. We reached the Jaffa gate just as the sun was setting and (after the obligatory photos). October 03, 2006.
