2014: June 2014

http://walkwithkatie.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 28, 2014. An imprint only you can leave. God's given us this fingerprint that nobody else has, that nobody has ever had in history, that nobody in the future will ever have, so that we can leave an imprint in the world that nobody else can leave." - Keith Craft. Tuesday, June 24, 2014. Lately I've been feeling lost. Like I'm not sure what God wants me to do next. Do you have any suggestions for me? Great suggestion. And if I wake up and still feel lost? Take a longer nap. An ant is a bug.

2014: August 2014

http://walkwithkatie.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 28, 2014. One of the many life lessons that I took away from my time in Spain is that we can't confine God to a "box" (ie., a church building). I expected to come to know and love the Lord better in churches and cathedrals, through prayer and walking meditation, learning to recite the 23rd Psalm in Spanish, and honoring the Sabbath. But, in retrospect, I spent very little time doing any of those things. And yet, I still came away feeling closer to God. As I read through their responses: ...

2014: Creating a Home

http://walkwithkatie.blogspot.com/2014/12/creating-home.html

Friday, December 5, 2014. Randy and I just moved into a place of our own. Yet another adventure! When I came to visit for the month of September, the primary item on our agenda was to find a new home. Something small and homey, with room for the dog to run. Each week we looked at Craigslist and Zillow, the local newspaper and the Loomis Facebook page. We told everyone we knew and even had a local realtor friend checking on upcoming properties for us. But not without lots of minor hiccups along the way.

Sharing my experiences of life in San Felipe, Baja California, working as a full-time volunteer missionary at a children's home and orphanage. Randy and I arrived at Sonshine Hacienda just in time for the Christmas madness to begin. And we still have a week of it as we prepare for the "Day of the Kings" on January 6. And just yesterday a local family stopped by. Three little girls handed me a trash bag full of stuffed animals. They said they got new ones from Santa this year and wanted the childr...Randy...

Sharing my experiences of life in San Felipe, Baja California, working as a full-time volunteer missionary at a children's home and orphanage. Being the Answer to Someone's Prayer. Yesterday I really began to understand the importance of having mentors in your life. After an hour of just hanging out with the kids and catching up over a pitcher of Sangria, Tony turned serious. "I teared up when you called and said you were moving to San Felipe. You guys are an answer to our prayers.". Having mentors in yo...

Sharing my experiences of life in San Felipe, Baja California, working as a full-time volunteer missionary at a children's home and orphanage. Yesterday I attended the Joyce Meyer Conference. At Sleep Train Arena in Sacramento. It was a 3-day conference, but Randy and I are getting ready to go to Mexico for a week, so, between packing and getting ahead on work, I felt like one day at the conference was all I could squeeze in. Joyce reminded us that our bodies are " temples of the Holy Spirit. Her point w...

Sharing my experiences of life in San Felipe, Baja California, working as a full-time volunteer missionary at a children's home and orphanage. How to Handle Rejection. Randy and I both faced unexpected rejection yesterday. One of my clients, who I have been working with since December, decided that he no longer needed/wanted my writing and editing services. I received the "we're going in a different direction" email, which we all know is code for "you aren't cutting it so I'll just do it myself.". If you...

Sharing my experiences of life in San Felipe, Baja California, working as a full-time volunteer missionary at a children's home and orphanage. Thanksgiving is an American holiday, so it's obviously not on the calendar in Mexico. But that doesn't mean we didn't celebrate it this week! Only the secondary school kids went to class that day, so I asked if we should do activities with the younger ones. Ask and you shall be put in charge! After we had put together our gratitude chain, they asked for another ac...

Sharing my experiences of life in San Felipe, Baja California, working as a full-time volunteer missionary at a children's home and orphanage. The Sounds of Mexico. Ever wonder what Mexico sounds like? We wake up each morning to the sound of dogs barking. We had no idea before moving to Baja that we would be living right next to the humane society. Add to that the fact that EVERYONE in San Felipe has a dog, and there is rarely a moment of quiet. These are the sounds that fill our days! Secure Online Dona...

In October 2007, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. This is my story. Take a walk with me. Friday, October 30, 2009. Overall, we are doing well. We are so blessed. I am grateful! David Alexander is in 2nd grade - his report card on Wednesday was straight A's. David's teacher told me she has to fuss at him to stop reading! Lol - there is always a time and place for everything! He loves drawing and explaining things. He love all things electronic. Video games! He is so funny! Poor kid - victim of genetics!

Walk With Lauri

Thursday, April 11, 2013. Encouragement from my Savior. On November 11, 2012 on the south side of Indianapolis, a home exploded in a neighborhood called Richmond Hill. The home had been intentionally filled with gas and ignited by a cylinder placed in a microwave with a delayed timer to turn it on. Two people were killed and over 30 homes destroyed. Three arrests have been made. I know before the explosion I was so much stronger than that. All these feelings of shame filled me. To the point of death.
