Tuesday, September 7, 2010. Articulation is the sounds that we make in order to communicate. The earliest sounds a child makes are /p, b, m/. These sounds should emerge in "babbling" as early as 4-6 months and are quickly followed by /t, d, n, h, w/. The chart at the bottom of the blog may be used as a reference as to when sounds should be mastered. What causes a child to not say sounds correctly? For the last reason: Who knows? Some children have sounds they don't say correctly for no apparent reason.
