Trailheadcase: Few and far between these days

http://wanderawhile.blogspot.com/2007/05/few-and-far-between-these-days.html

Wednesday, May 02, 2007. Few and far between these days. Judge Donald Lay, former chief justice of the Eighth Circuit, died Sunday. This guy was the genuine article, a relic from the Warren era when liberals weren't afraid to be called such. He spoke to one of my law school classes years ago. He made an impression on me then, and if I find one of his opinions while researching one thing or another, I still stop to peruse it. And he died young, too. He was only 80. Trailheadcase: Izzy or Izzeny, Part Three

http://wanderawhile.blogspot.com/2007/04/izzy-or-izzeny-part-three.html

Saturday, April 21, 2007. Izzy or Izzeny, Part Three. Says that "[f]riends of Al Gore have secretly started assembling a campaign team in preparation for the former American vice-president to make a fresh bid for the White House." This was apparently not done at Gore's request, but he hasn't asked them to stop either. This part of the piece perked my little pointy ears right up:. The answer for most of them is nowhere. Now ask yourself why.". I wouldn't be surprised if he lost 15lb or so," said Mr Carvil...

Wednesday, December 27, 2006. New on the Blogroll. A good buddy of mine (and fellow photographer) has started his own photoblog. So go take a look at Available Light. The first images he's posted are from Pike's Peak and the Grand Canyon. This post brought to you courtesy of the wireless internet connection at the Lincoln County Public Library. We're all safe and happy and have had a grand holiday so far. I hope you all can say the same.). Links to this post. Friday, December 22, 2006. Links to this post.

Trailheadcase: March 2007

http://wanderawhile.blogspot.com/2007_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 30, 2007. A guest post by Bloggerdad. A trial lawyer persuades a trial lawyer. It was a very unusual day in red state Indiana. A Democratic candidate for the presidency came to Indianapolis. To shake hands, break bread, speak and answer questions. They usually don't bother. I will try to summarize, much as I hate to do that. I think I will try it with bullet points. We need a president we can trust, but also one the rest of the world can trust. We need the trust of the rest of the world.

Wednesday, February 24, 2010. The tide, revisited. I went to write an email to Kristy, and I realized it was a post anyway. T's mother apparently gets regular emails from The Universe, and she forwarded one recently, which is a particular favorite of hers. It read:. Sometimes, [T's Mom], having more fun and being happier comes from looking for each in crazy, new places; instead of waiting for them to come from where you've found them before or where others are now finding them. Trailheadcase: Last days

http://trailheadcase.blogspot.com/2010/12/last-days.html

Thursday, December 2, 2010. I used to hold my grandmother’s hands, usually when crossing the street. But last night she held mine, both of them, as I leaned awkwardly over the hospital bed. Her grip was surprisingly strong. I looked down at the nearly translucent skin on her hands, which are bruised and scabbed from a fall, and remembered them tanned and covered in mango juice. My grandmother’s hands always bring the same image. But they were abundant on the trees in her Florida backyard. The mango juice...

Trailheadcase: December 2010

http://trailheadcase.blogspot.com/2010_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 2, 2010. My parents divorced when I was eight, which split up an already fragmented family. I was the youngest of five children, and yet an only child between my parents. That first summer after their separation, they did a smart thing. They let my grandmother take me. Grandma had certain ideas about the care and management of children, and they involved a combination of absolutely impenetrable boundaries, close supervision, and high levels of indulgence. My grandmother had been a prop...

Trailheadcase: "A marketable facade"

http://trailheadcase.blogspot.com/2010/10/marketable-facade.html

Friday, October 29, 2010. I did not expect this video to make me cry. Much of what is produced in this vein tends toward the “But you are. 8221; variety, and I have no use for that. Not every woman is pretty. We should not have. To be, to be valued, to be considered fully human, to be considered worth as much as a beautiful woman. The conflation of a woman’s beauty and desirability to men with her worth causes so, so much misery. I read one woman's response to this and it struck me. This resonates with me.

http://trailheadcase.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Wednesday, November 3, 2010. Something's lost but something's gained. In living every day." - Both Sides Now. I trained Thomas there, a small pup learning how to live with me on trails through a pine forest. I had no idea I'd never see it again. But still - still. I ache for Montana. It's an enduring loss, a heavy price I paid to gain something profoundly valuable - myself and my life. But I still chase the mountains. I know I'll find them again. I just don't know where, or when.
