The Road to Nowhere. Wednesday, August 26, 2009. Day 18 - Wednesday. The storms forced me to take a break. The rain let up near Chicago and I had clear sailing for the last couple of hundred miles home, although it threatened to storm the entire way. I made it back, 18 days on the bike! Day 18 = 678 miles. Total Trip = 6,739 miles. Tuesday, August 25, 2009. Day 17 - Tuesday. Today is the day I have to head back. It is a brisk, beautiful morning. I have about 1300 miles to ride in two days. Day 16 - Monday.

The Road to Nowhere. Monday, August 17, 2009. Day 9 - Monday. We really took our time getting around this morning. I thought we were about 70 miles from the coast so we were moving at a rather relaxed pace. Route 126 continued to Florence where we would pick up US 101. Route 126 continued to be an awesome ride. We got into some stretches of huge trees. I am not completely sure, but I think they are Sitka. Spruce, or some type of spruce. Lunch at Leona's in Mapleton. Our first look at the Pacific.

The Road to Nowhere. Friday, August 21, 2009. Day 13 - Friday. Today is the day we take on 'The Loneliest Road in America'. Of course it's already hot as we leave Reno. The string of near 100 degree days continues. But when you're travelling a road like this, I wouldn't have it any other way. Http:/ www.byways.org/explore/byways/2033/. It goes like this for miles. The Road to Nowhere. Thursday, August 20, 2009. Day 12 - Thursday. Today we're off towards the Reno / Tahoe area with designs on the infamous Route 50 across Nevada tomorrow. It's already hot early in the day. Yesterday, as it turns out, set a record high of 101 for the day. Today it seems will be more of the same. The Road to Nowhere. Wednesday, August 19, 2009. Day 11 - Wednesday. Today we're planning on heading down the 101 to tour the Avenue of the Giants. It's about. 45 degrees and foggy on the co. Foggy morning on the Pacific. The Avenue of the Giants is located at Humboldt State Park. We have to take 101 about 90 miles south to get there. At Humboldt we will get off on the 'old 101' for a 40 mile tour on the 'Avenue'. That still run. We see these things all over the place. Some. A little info on the trees.

The Road to Nowhere. Tuesday, August 18, 2009. Day 10 - Tuesday. We woke to another fantastic day. It's getting difficult to describe how great the weather is. The hotel has a rather nice looking laundry facility there so I decide to take advantage. I hang out on the beach until the laundry is done, then we start packing the bikes to head for California.
