After spending some time at Grillin’ On The Bay this past Saturday I realized that I needed a haircut, so I paid a visit to my favorite barbershop Joe and Bart’s. Joe was honoring the death of Elizabeth Taylor with a fitting final centerfold, carefully cut and pasted the old fashioned way onto the side of a metal room divider. Filed under Everyday People. A Tale Of Two Hoods: Bensonhurst Is Really Two Neighborhoods →. April 9, 2012 · 11:11 am. By takomabibelot via Flickr. After Sargent Le Fevre left, DeSantis went back to his bed and sat down. He went into himself and thought back to before the terrorist attacks, the divisions, the blame from all sides to all other sides. Before anyone could predict, murder and political intrigue seemed to replace openness and the rule of law. How did things manage to degrade to this point? There were rumors of hoarding c...

What Totonno's lacks in basil (and kindness) they make up for in pure pizza goodness. Patsy's service proved pleasing; their pie peculiarly premature. 8221; or “Can I get you something to drink? 8221; and more, “Whaddaya want? John’s pie is impressive…. But so is Grimaldi's. Straight out of the guide books we have from Manhattan, John’s Pizzeria of Bleecker Street and from Brooklyn, Grimaldi’s Coal Brick-Oven Pizzeria. The Urbanographer: When will the dust and mud be gone?

http://urbanographer.blogspot.com/2012/11/manhattan-beach.html

Saturday, November 24, 2012. When will the dust and mud be gone? It's been almost a month since Hurricane Sandy and Manhattan Beach is still covered in dusty mud. People continue to clear debris and destroyed items from their houses. I saw something that reminded me of an antique looking wurlitzer-like piano brought out from a basement. It's eery to see the white-glazed highrise on West End and Oriental is still missing its balcony railings. Sunken steps at Beaumont and Esplanade. View my complete profile.

Thursday, March 29, 2012. Tuesday, March 27, 2012. More change on Brighton Beach Avenue. I'm back in Manhattan Beach for a short stay and noticed a few changes:. 1) there appears to be no construction developments at Odessa or the adjacent buildings. 3) Two stores west of the Oceana where a 24 hr corner deli has stood for years is now a fruit store. The airiness of the layout is interesting and is better given the odd triangular shape of the building. 4) Citibank is now open at Berta's. Graduated from NY...

Friday, January 27, 2012. In my new neighborhood, dumpsters drive themselves around. The rogue dumpster was retrieved eventually. Saturday, January 7, 2012. More change on Brighton Beach Avenue. I'm not sure how I missed it, but Radin Pharmacy at 1077 Brighton Beach Avenue closed. Prescriptions were moved to Walgreens. Sad. That pharmacy has looked exactly the same for the past 25 years.
