Wanderings of a Swing Dancer

Wanderings of a Swing Dancer. Koh Larn, Thailand. Friday, September 11, 2015. Not welcome home, just back. Home is relative, and as an expat, my heart will forever have a home in multiple places of the world. So welcome back me, to the good ol' U.S.A. It's been a little over two months since we last talked. Gosh, where do I start? Where did I end? When that moment to part ways came, it finally hit me. I was leaving. Saying goodbye is hard for everyone I think, and I am definitely in this group...Curre...

Wanderings of a Swing Dancer: January 2015

http://wanderingsofaswingdancer.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html

Wanderings of a Swing Dancer. Koh Larn, Thailand. Saturday, January 17, 2015. I can't believe my time is coming to an end. Once I leave, I don't know how long it will be before I am able to come back. What am I going to do with you so far away again? How do you say goodbye to a country you have come to love so much, you convince everyone you can to visit? How do you board a plane to leave a place you wish you could wrap up and carry away with you, just to keep it near? Sunday, January 11, 2015. The reali...

Wanderings of a Swing Dancer: Taipei Getaway

http://wanderingsofaswingdancer.blogspot.com/2012/05/taipei-getaway.html

Wanderings of a Swing Dancer. Koh Larn, Thailand. Thursday, May 24, 2012. When my coteacher told me last week that I had off May 23-May 28th last week, I was so excited. I jumped on my trusted flight search site, looked for the cheapest flights, and found ones for Taipei, Taiwan were super cheap. Done! Rather thrilling and exciting honestly! After I landed, I got directions for which bus to take and was on my way to Taipei! How crazy is that! I also learned tonight that her favorite dog is the corgi!

Wanderings of a Swing Dancer: How I Came to Love Swing Dancing

http://wanderingsofaswingdancer.blogspot.com/2013/07/how-i-came-to-love-swing-dancing.html

Wanderings of a Swing Dancer. Koh Larn, Thailand. Thursday, August 1, 2013. How I Came to Love Swing Dancing. Though I gotta tell ya, I was awful at it in the beginning. Man, I had no clue what the heck I was doing. But I loved it! The slight nuances that go in to dancing, the weight balance, the foot placements, creativity, and ability to react quickly to tempo changes, are things I never once thought I had the capability of learning! It's such an amazing and accomplishing feeling. Social studies teache...

Wanderings of a Swing Dancer: My Truth

http://wanderingsofaswingdancer.blogspot.com/2015/02/my-truth.html

Wanderings of a Swing Dancer. Koh Larn, Thailand. Sunday, February 1, 2015. I have a confession to make. Are you ready for it? I'm pretty sure it will surprise you. I'm tired. Tired of traveling. Tired of living in other countries. Bet that was not what you thought you'd hear was it? Don't get me wrong, I love to travel in general, visit other countries, meet new people, try unique food, and visit famous sights. I am tired of fighting. I am tired of the struggle to live a regular life. With this shift, I...

The Girl Roaming: May 2011

http://thegirlroaming.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Currently in: China (Hong Kong, Shanghai, Wuhu). Tuesday, May 24, 2011. Only Pop Music Can Save Us Now! This message is brought to you by the awesome CD that my friend Rita made me. :). I've been neglecting this blog. No, no. It's true, don't try and make me feel better about it. The truth is, this isn't my only blog. (Or at least, it isn't my first blog.) And it takes a while for a blog to feel "homey" enough to write in. I must have stared at my China visa. And I can't help but smile. :). My "internshi...

wanderings of an inner landscape

Wanderings of an inner landscape. Wednesday, September 10, 2014. Nying thak pa nay thuk ji che. The beauty of this one majestic moment cannot be overlooked. For the only honorable thing to do with that which is sacred. Is to give it away, freely. Do not protest enlightenment. For it serves no purpose to shrink your own brilliance. My own brilliance, I guess. I am to speak only from my own experience. I experience a cortisol-lowering relaxation in my sympathetic nervous system. No, not this time. Maybe th...

Wanderings of an Itinerant Mind

Wanderings of an Itinerant Mind. Thursday, August 13, 2015. The Dart theory and Mind control. I am pasting below an excerpt from a very good article by Mr Nate Klemp. You can find in this link. When things are good, the waves are calm, peaceful, and uplifting. When things get crazy, the waves become scary and chaotic. We cannot change these thought waves. On this view, the best we can do is learn to surrender to them – to shift from resistance to acceptance. Here’s Hanson’s big insight &#8211...You can d...

Wanderings of a Rotary Kid

Wanderings of a Rotary Kid. Friday, January 2, 2015. A Latin American Year. None of my adventures were what I expected, but each were good in so many different ways. This year, I've visited 5 new countries: Guatemala, Peru, Chile, Bolivia, and Argentina. Each has been exciting and interesting in it's own ways, but Guatemala and Peru rest the closest to my heart, for the obvious reason of having spent much more time there. Monday, December 29, 2014. A Sunday Antiques Market. The city has not exactly lived...

Wanderings of a Tactless Mind

Sunday, April 5, 2015. Constant theme.but Im back! TIt's been a while.but I think that after my blogging hiatus, it's time to get back into the swing of things. I can't promise to be consistent, but I will try my hardest to post interesting goings on, random thoughts and maybe even some intellectual, thought provoking items going forward. I hope the hiatus has found you well, that you have managed to thrive in this crazy world and that you are on a path to being happy and healthy. First, to any mother wh...

Past and future wanderings of a travel bug . . .

Saturday, January 28, 2012. A Ticket to Nowhere.Exploring the Expansion at the EIA. I got up and out of the house early (for a Saturday) and headed to the Edmonton International Airport. This probably doesn't sound particularly unusual after all this is meant to be a travel blog so surely I've been to my local airport before. True enough. Usually however I go to airport because I am going somewhere or at the very least picking someone up. Today however this was not the case. Headed to the U.S.A! There is...

Wanderings of a Young Man. Light-hearted tales of one man's global adventures. Is that really your name? Photos from the Amazon Rainforest. San Francisco in Photos. Why Bus Journeys Are Never Long Enough. I love bus journeys. Whether it’s getting from Venice Beach to downtown LA on a city bus with bilingual schizophrenic homeless people, or a 30-hour cramped coach journey down the coast of Chile, I love every second.
