Wandering Woolfolks

Travel log for Robert and Nancy as we explore this beautiful country of ours (and occasionally a few others). Wednesday, July 29, 2015. Home again jiggity jig. After 3 weeks of vacation and 4 inches of rain at home, our yard looks like a hay field. Nancy and I got most of it cut today, hope to finish it tomorrow. Nancy spent most of the day washing clothes and unpacking, I cut grass, washed cars and played some golf. The heat was hard to take after 3 weeks of 50s and 60s. Last view of English countryside.

Wandering Woolfolks: Hexum

http://wanderingwoolfolks.blogspot.com/2015/07/hexum.html

Travel log for Robert and Nancy as we explore this beautiful country of ours (and occasionally a few others). Sunday, July 19, 2015. It was supposed to rain today but turned out nice and cool. We took the train to a quaint little town called Hexum to go to a boot sale. No they were not selling footwear, it was boot as in car boot (trunk), what we call a flea market. Afterwards we had lunch and explored the town. Next stop on the pub tour. Gatehouse for original walled city. Exciting lawn bowling match.

Wandering Woolfolks: Laundry day

http://wanderingwoolfolks.blogspot.com/2015/07/laundry-day.html

Travel log for Robert and Nancy as we explore this beautiful country of ours (and occasionally a few others). Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Yesterday was laundry and packing day. Nancy and Megan packed for the trip home next week. I worked on the blog most of the day because it is not as easy with the pad computer as it is with the laptop. I also did some cleaning then we walked to the grocery. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Map of states we have visited together. Home again jiggity jig.

Wandering Woolfolks: Graduation day

http://wanderingwoolfolks.blogspot.com/2015/07/graduation-day.html

Travel log for Robert and Nancy as we explore this beautiful country of ours (and occasionally a few others). Wednesday, July 15, 2015. Megan received her masters in Fine Arts Conservation from Northumbria University today. Many of the buildings at Northumbria were constructed in the 1960's when it was a polytechnic school. Some pretty buildings on campus. Megan and Fergal met when both were students here. Her first dorm room. After graduation we had dinner and walked around Newcastle. Because We Can II.

Wandering Woolfolks: York part 2

http://wanderingwoolfolks.blogspot.com/2015/07/york-part-2.html

Travel log for Robert and Nancy as we explore this beautiful country of ours (and occasionally a few others). Tuesday, July 21, 2015. More evidence of Roman occupation. I was surprised to learn that a Roman emperor was crowned in Britain. Time for a pub stop. The old ticket station at the train depot is now a pub. York has a large train museum and best of all it is free! Yoda drives a train. Unrestored car that was being used as a chicken coop. Megan takes a look underneath a locomotive. One more pub stop.

Wandering Woolfolks: Edinburgh Day 2

http://wanderingwoolfolks.blogspot.com/2015/07/edinburgh-day-2.html

Travel log for Robert and Nancy as we explore this beautiful country of ours (and occasionally a few others). Saturday, July 18, 2015. Very cool millennium clock with lots of moving parts. Cast of Queen Mary's tomb. Beheading machine last used in early 1700's. Cradle used by King James of Scotland. Yoda checking out a giant geode. Megan and a T-rex. Early steam engine used to pump water. Next we just kind of wandered around town. Dorm where we stayed. This Irish pub looked interesting. We started our day...

Celebrating 20: October 2009

http://celebrating20.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

You asked and I finally. We got the RV! On Tuesday we went and picked up the RV. These were the views out the mirrors all the way home. It's HUGE! Today we put down a deposit on the motorhome we want to buy. Before I give you the details about the home.let me back up and tell you how we got to this point. Certainly the difference would be a lot less than $6-8K! So here's the info. It's a 1994 Winnebago that originally cost over $11oK. It's 35', diesel, and very nice. It has a washer/dryer uni...The bathr...

Celebrating 20: Bye Bye BAMH

http://celebrating20.blogspot.com/2010/07/bye-bye-bamh.html

I put the RV up on CraigsList around 4:30pm yesterday. Calls and emails started flooding in by 5:15. We priced it a little more than we bought it for.and it was sold (asking price) by noon today! WOW how easy was that? So for people wondering how you can afford a 5 week trip to Alaska.do what we did! Plan well, stick to your plan, and enjoy your trip of a lifetime! Our last look at BAMH as the new owner is driving off with it! Yes I did see the gift you left me! I laughed so hard! July 31, 2010 at 4:31 PM.

Celebrating 20: Let's Celebrate!!

http://celebrating20.blogspot.com/2009/10/lets-celebrate.html

I sent someone over to introduce is and the rest is history! Here we are that first week we met. Here is a recent pic of us. We had a short courtship and many family members were skeptical about us getting married so quickly. We got a lot of advise to wait.but we didn't. I know the odds were against us from the beginning, but today kicks off our year long celebration of 20 years together. We are very much in love and lust. lol. And I am very proud of us! We will be celebrating here over the next 9 months!

Celebrating 20: November 2009

http://celebrating20.blogspot.com/2009_11_01_archive.html

I am also reading though journals of other's trips to Alaska. Many of the journals I have found are from people who got to spend MONTHS up there, but it's still good to read through to see what there is to do. We plan on getting together soon with some friends of ours that go up and work at Denali in the summers. I am sure they have lots of good advice. This means we now have 5 vehicles, so he is going to sell his little red truck and hopefully his Porsche too! Labels: posted by Diana.

Celebrating 20: May 2010

http://celebrating20.blogspot.com/2010_05_01_archive.html

We are in the midst of our maiden voyage with BAHM. We are staying at a campground about 5 miles from home. It's close to the freeway, but I am amazed by how peaceful it is. We put the hitch bike rack on and I followed in the van. Our Summer Roommate - House Sitter has ARRIVED! Andy is in the house! He's the college student we know that needs a place to stay for June and July! We needed someone to house sit.so it's a perfect match! We can start packing it! Celebrating 20: Still Trucking...

http://celebrating20.blogspot.com/2010/07/still-trucking.html

We had good wifi last night, but we swam, ate ice cream, and socialized. Right now we are about 40% across SD. If we push it we can be home tomorrow night. We'll see how the next few hours go and decide. It's really HOT out so we really don't want to stop til it's cooler. We see rain just to the north, but we this we might miss it. Bummer! We have quite the bug collection that we want washed off. At this point I might just update after we get home. I will post about meeting our friends before that! Happy...

Celebrating 20: June 2010

http://celebrating20.blogspot.com/2010_06_01_archive.html

Tomorrow we plan on checking out a few places in Fairbanks before heading to Denali National Park. We won't have any services the next few days, so updates will come via my phone. I know we are behind on photo and video uploads. Hopefully we will find a strong connection soon and get things uploaded. Sent from my Palm Pre. Arctic Adventures and Arrival in Alaska. This post is rated AAAA! Anyway WE WERE INSIDE THE ARCTIC CIRCLE! We even did a GeoCache. It was COLD up there! WE ARE IN ALASKA! We continued ...
