What's Next?!

Sunday, April 17, 2011. Kolob Arch, Kolob Canyons, Utah. The Kolob Arch trail has been on my 'to do' list for about 4 years now, and finally I got to do it all! It completely lived up to my expectations, and then some! Exhausted and with blistered and sore feet, I have never been so pleased, but in a way, sad, to complete a hike. This hike was amazing! The river was flowing a great speed and volume - some of the trail had been wiped out in places and alternate routes had to be sort out. Since we haven't ...

What's Next?!: September 2010

http://wanderlust-whatsnext.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Wednesday, September 22, 2010. We are so happy to have you with us. Sunday, September 19, 2010. 18 Sept' 2010 - Angels Landing, Zion National Park. For a long time now I have had this desire to hike Angel's Landing in Zion National Park. We tried it a couple of months ago and decided to stop at Scout Lookout after a lady fell off of this trail the very same day that we were there! Refrigerator Canyon - half way up the hike; the blast of cool air is a welcome break from the beating sun.

Sunday, February 20, 2011. Temple of Sinawava / Riverside Walk. The picture below doesn't do it justice - this waterfall was spurting out fast and impressive from the Heaps Canyon - notice the 2 huge mounds of snow/ice it has created toward the bottom of the picture? Zion National Park, Utah. While there, I picked up magazine that details 22 of the top hikes in the park. We have done several of them already but it is my goal to complete all the hikes in this coming year! Tuesday, February 15, 2011. Valen...

What's Next?!: Medal of Bravery

http://wanderlust-whatsnext.blogspot.com/2011/02/medal-of-bravery.html

Tuesday, February 15, 2011. Valentine's Day bought a big surprise for Wade after he and a co-worker were awarded a Medal of Bravery each from our Sheriff for an incident they responded on together last Summer. The award is a huge honor and reflects the courage, bravery and actions they displayed that day, that in the Sheriff's words, were above and beyond the call of regular duty. I am so proud of him! Wade and Quinn with their awards. Wade and the Sheriff. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

What's Next?!: October 2010

http://wanderlust-whatsnext.blogspot.com/2010_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 30, 2010. Road Trippin' California: Part 3 - Yosemite National Park. So after leaving Sacramento, the next stop on our loop back towards home was Yosemite National Park, about 3 hours south east of Sacramento. Wow! That place is amazing! I so wished that we had of had a week to stay there and hike til we could hike no more! I love that idea but we'll be long dead before the hundreds of years it takes for these beautiful trees to gain any real size. When we left Yosemite, it was pouring ...

The G-Bachs: August 2010

http://jambergbach.blogspot.com/2010_08_01_archive.html

Monday, August 2, 2010. Back to Stone Door! Since hiking at the Smokies we’ve wanted to get back to the Stone Door area and hike some more of the challenging trails which we weren’t quite ready for, last time we were there. Record highs over the past few weekends have kept us from doing any hiking. Finally last weekend, a Saturday rolled around with a forecast high under 95, so we headed out. It felt like it was dark because of the dense canopy of trees above us. Most of the trail seemed really dark, esp...

The G-Bachs: October 2009

http://jambergbach.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, October 17, 2009. The Wooly Worm came to our house! Now we had never heard of these before until Channel 19 did a report last year about weather folklore and predicting winter. Joe had to find some. Pictures of wooly worms to use for the story since you can supposedly predict how harsh or mild a winter will be by the length of his orange band of color. One thing interesting that we found out, when they get scared, they curl up into a little fuzzy ball like rolly pollies do. he's cute!

Well today he talked her into it. We explored along the bank of the creek, listening to the peaceful sounds of the gentle water flow and enjoying the quiet serenity of the creek flowing through the canyon of moss covered boulders and a catherdral of evergreens. Its too bad we didn't have a camera with us toda...

http://jambergbach.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 31, 2009. Vacation Adventures '09, part one! Summertime has finally arrived! So we packed up, loaded the car, and headed out for some long overdue vacation. We have been looking forward to this for a long time now, although we've had to change the date a few times because of work complications. We were finally able to settle on a date that would be a good time to go. Shifting wood, bumping swells of an uneven surface. it was good to see daylight again. We finally were able to figure out where...

The G-Bachs: Barenaked Ladies and Smoky Mountain Climbing

http://jambergbach.blogspot.com/2010/07/barenaked-ladies-and-smoky-mountain.html

Wednesday, July 21, 2010. Barenaked Ladies and Smoky Mountain Climbing. It all started with the band. We have been wanting to see Barenaked Ladies for a long time, but we usually just miss them. Joe was able to take that Friday off so we could leave early and have plenty of time to get there, find our hotel in Pigeon Forge and get back Knoxville and find the Tennessee Theater.Apparently, there was some other concert in the park going on down the street with a. Staircases, one on each side. When we regist...

The G-Bachs: July 2011

http://jambergbach.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html

Monday, July 18, 2011. A Summer day Hike! It’s been awhile since we have been hiking because the weather has been unbearably hot this summer. The last time we went hiking was to the Walls of Jericho in Hytop in early May. That was the first really warm day of the summer and we ran out of water on the way back up the mountain, and Joe just about died of heat exhaustion! While we were at the Jericho trailhead we noticed a somewhat new trail called the Bear Den Point trail, and decided it w. As we got deepe...

Tuesday, April 21, 2009. These beautiful flowers were a suprise to me on Monday night, from my sweet and loveable husband! He has been working really late the past couple of weeks at the t.v. station and he promised to make it up to me. He told me that this was just the start of his making up the long hours to me. I was really suprised. I'm looking forward to more suprises from the love of my love. I love you Joe! Thanks for being my wonderful husband! Sunday, April 5, 2009. Sunday Evening Fish Fry.

Saturday, June 13, 2009. Vacation Adventures '09, Part Two! The next day was a wet one. This was the day to head over to the beach. Yay! Back on the open road, through some fun, blinding thunderheads, and two hours later we're making our way through the ten-thousand little towns toward Gulf Shores. The condo was great. We even got some nice enterainment by a little bunny rabbit and several little bitty lizards as we boiled in the hot tub! We ate dinner that night at a local oyster house. Subscribe to: Po...

http://jambergbach.blogspot.com/2010/06/hike-to-buggytop.html

Thursday, June 17, 2010. Getting ready for our upcoming hiking trip to the Smokies, and eventually our hiking trip to Utah we decided to take a little trip back to Cumberland Plateau. We were originally planning to go back to Stone Door and hike the more challenging Big Creek Gulf trail, but we got a late start so Joe let Amber pick the trail today. We have a nice map book of. Tennessee that has a list of popular hiking trails inside the front cover. Canyon where Buggytop Cave is and we could hear the ro...
