Life in the Golden State. Monday, January 30, 2006. My weekend went well. On Friday, my sister picked me up from the airport with both Faolan and Kieran in tow. We had lunch at El Torrito, chased a few birds in the parking lot, painted some pottery for Mommy and Daddy, and went to Lord's (Loard's? I start work today at Grandma Nancy's office. We did this event last year and had so much fun. this year, we musta set off later coz we didn't sign in till 11:15, or so. the sign at the check-in said we had to be finished by 3pm. we didn't want to risk NOT getting back by 3pm and possibly not getting our stamp on the book. so we were in a time-crunch this time. I'd never had buttermilk apple pie and now i'd like to make one for turkey day. WALK only: 2.5 out of 5.

San juan bautista is a pretty nice town near hollister-ish. really small town. the walk, although quite nice, pretty much just went criss-crossing around the downtown area. we got pretty familiar with some of the businesses in downtown. San juan bautista mission. the biggest one! And it sits right on top of the san andreas fault. Original el camino real. Town has lotsa lotsa olive trees. Stopped for ice cream, too.

Year round events are walks you can do any day, any time. you just go to a specified start point (hotel front desk, coffee shops, rec centers), ask for a "walk box" or binder, fill out some forms, get your books stamped, take out a route map, and get walking. Life in the Golden State. Friday, May 27, 2005. Bank of America sucks. Why should I have to start to pay for my checking again? I won't have direct deposit for a while, so I'll be billed $5-$9/month. Why? I have absolutely free checking at Bank of the West! I think I may have signed up while they had some sort of promotion where I get this until 2050 or something like that. Bummer. Saturday, February 15, 2014. My Mac is Working! All is right with the world! Yay, I love my Mac. Please don't die. Please don't freeze my mouse ever again. S and I are listening to Brandi Carlile and working on our respective 'puters. She's got me taking raw garlic to fight my throat congestion. Hm. You take it by spoonful and wash it (very quickly) down with water. Seems to work a bit. I'll probably keep it up. It's not too bad if you wash it quickly down with water. And I have a lot of fun and then I beg mercy of the director. Yeah, yeah. I know I need to learn my lines. Oh, you don't want Kincaid to lie dead on the floor? Me either. Get in my belly! Sunday, February 10, 2013. Egg nog ice cream. I bought a quart of eggnog before Christmas. we never did open it, so just before the "best by" date on the carton, i decided to make ice cream with it. i just poured the whole thing in the ice cream maker, added a pinch of nutmeg and a coupla pinches of cardamom.
