Starting in April 2007, I traveled from Atlanta up to Tennessee and halfway across the States along the TransAmerican Trail (TAT). The TAT is a collection of unpaved trails (mostly Forest Service roads) that have been linked together to allow off-road travel from Tennessee to Oregon. I roughly followed this route as far as Colorado. Then I turned north through Wyoming and Montana, traveling across Western Canada into Alaska. I reached the Arctic Ocean in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska (northernmost city!

The bike selection was a difficult one. Initially we started with the idea of riding a Suzuki Vstrom1000 two up. We even bought the bike and started to prepare it. Going on short weekend rides I think we both started to realize that this may not be the best idea - well actually I think Casey realized there was no way she was going to sit on the back for that long.
