Through the Looking Glass: November 2006
http://thelivelywire.blogspot.com/2006_11_01_archive.html
Through the Looking Glass. A lively look at life in Alice Springs, central Australia. Sunday, November 26, 2006. Where Have You Gone? For those regular readers, I apologise for the lengthy delay in updating the blog. Over the past six weeks, I've been moving to Warburton, doing 1000k a week in the Toyota, and storing up new stories for the new blog. The new blog, all about Warburton, can be found at: warburtonway.blogspot.com. It's still being built, but patience, it will happen! More of Sophie's Photos.

Through the Looking Glass: New Blog!
http://thelivelywire.blogspot.com/2007/04/new-blog.html
Through the Looking Glass. A lively look at life in Alice Springs, central Australia. Sunday, April 29, 2007. To all those enduring blog fans who may not have realised that I've in fact moved blog addresses, please click here. And then save this new link in your Favourites! I must admit that I'm not really sure why I created a new blog. I think it was because it didn't seem right to be talking about Warburton and the Lands while on a blog address that seemed specific to Alice Springs. Where Have You Gone?

Through the Looking Glass: July 2006

Through the Looking Glass. A lively look at life in Alice Springs, central Australia. Saturday, July 29, 2006. Road signs on the Mereenie Loop, near Kings Canyon. The long title to this post is 'Always Follow Directions from the Locals'. But this story is really about Walu. Filled with confidence, the Council Lawyer, Leanne Stedman, and I arrived in Blackstone the evening before. We had a map. We had a car. We were two people with a basic idea of where we were and where we needed to be. About 90k into th...

Through the Looking Glass: October 2006
http://thelivelywire.blogspot.com/2006_10_01_archive.html
Through the Looking Glass. A lively look at life in Alice Springs, central Australia. Tuesday, October 17, 2006. All in a Day's Work. I have been variously playing around with the right title for this post. It included the words dancing (inma), goannas, troopies, Patjarr and moonlight cycles. All to no avail. Some days the weeks are strange and a catchy title can't possible capture it all. It's (almost) all in a day's work. On Wednesday, the dynamics inevitably changed as the government mob arrived. ...

Through the Looking Glass. A lively look at life in Alice Springs, central Australia. Saturday, August 19, 2006. Throwing Caution to the Canvas. I think it's fair to say that I have an addiction. It leaves me scratching for pennies the day before payday. It occupies my spare time. I juggle competing commitments to feed the need. It is endlessly engaging and thought-provoking. And of it I know, like all enthusiasts, that I know very little. So far, I have a:. Elegant painting from Patjarr arts centre, dep...

Through the Looking Glass: May 2006
http://thelivelywire.blogspot.com/2006_05_01_archive.html
Through the Looking Glass. A lively look at life in Alice Springs, central Australia. Monday, May 15, 2006. The title of this post has been carefully selected, but don't be misled. While the Alice may be the lesbian capital of Australia, I don't have any particular revelations about my nightlife. Actually, that's not true, this post is all about the nightlife (and other weekend activities), but none of which relate to more personal matters perhaps best left unaddressed in this public space. The 'problem'...

Through the Looking Glass. A lively look at life in Alice Springs, central Australia. Sunday, June 18, 2006. So, What Exactly Do You Do? Now that's a good question. In fact, sometimes I ask myself exactly that on quiet Friday afternoons or when I return from trips out to the Lands (the two worlds of my work in Alice Springs and what happens out there being so different.). Here is a brief appraise, complete with plain english translation:. Ensure effective development and implementation of regional SRAs.

Through the Looking Glass. A lively look at life in Alice Springs, central Australia. Sunday, September 24, 2006. The Henley-on-Todd, for those still at sea at this stage in the blog entry, is Alice Springs annual boat race on the (dry) Todd River. As the slogan says, the most fun you can have on a boat without getting wet. Posted by sophsta at 12:45 pm. Sunday, September 03, 2006. This is what happens when both parties are trying, but still not quite doing it properly. And above was my yamatji team and ...
