I now live near to Warnham Court, although it sadly is no longer a school, I still go and take a trip down memory lane. Hi to Roy, Susan Saunders and lesley Shaw, I hope you are all well? Warnham, a village just north of Horsham in West Sussex. The name Warnham is unusual in that it doesn't appear as a place name anywhere else in the world. The poet Percy Bysshe Shelley (1792 1822) was born at Field Place, a large house to the south of Warnham. He took lessons from the vicar of St Margaret's church and was baptised there. House Wartime

Warnham Court in Wartime. From the moment it was requisitioned by the government at the beginning of the war, Warnham Court had a secret existence. In 1941, it became home to the Signals Experimental Establishment, a government agency concerned with the development of radio and radar. The SEE normal peacetime location was at Woolwich Common but it was feared that it was vulnerable to enemy bombing, especially no doubt because of it's closeness to Woolwich Arsenal and the Docks.

The boarding school was divided up into three houses, named after castles in Sussex; Arundel, Bodiam and Lewes. Schooling followed the normal school syllabus but outside of school there were a variety of activities to keep the pupils occupied. In addition to carpentry and other craft activities there was a thriving drama club and the school had its own branch of the young Farmers' Club.

Warnham Flower Club
Warnham Evening Flower Club was formed in March 1961 and now has a membership of over 65 drawn from the village and the surrounding areas. We are an active club and meet at 7.00pm for 7.30pm on the 3rd Tuesday of the month, February to July and September to December. Annual subscription for 2015 is £25. Visitors are most welcome to attend for a fee of £6 per visit. See the Membership Application page for more details. We look forward to seeing you soon.
