The Wars of Pooch

The Wars of Pooch. Wednesday, 30 April 2014. A long time of no posting. Well, it has been a good year since anything got posted here. In that time, I have certainly not been idle in my gaming, but rather have been very distracted writing rules for Skirmish Sangin, and playing no small number of skirmish games. In light of this, the blog here has waned into a damp squib of a thing. To keep up with what I am up to you should look at. For Skirmish Sangin stuff, head here- Skirmish Sangin Blog. The Wars of Pooch: Day of Days 2013

http://warpooch.blogspot.com/2013/02/day-of-days-2013.html

The Wars of Pooch. Thursday, 21 February 2013. Day of Days 2013. So, as time rolls on, the inevitable occurs, it is time for Day of Days again! This year it is a doubles tournament, themed around the relief of Stalingrad. So Mid War, and none of the REALLY cool toys for the Germans, just PaK 40s. Nick and I are working together again, after my successes last year with tanks (8 tanks, fielded in 4 games. 32 total tanks, 31 destroyed.) clearly the only solution was for me to bring tanks AGAIN! The colour s...

The Wars of Pooch: April 2012

http://warpooch.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

The Wars of Pooch. Monday, 30 April 2012. Tempest 2012- The 82nd Airborne on the Attack! This weekend was a one day, 4 game competition here; called Tempest. It was expertly run (as ever), and with some great terrain on tables, smaller armies it made for 4 games in one day! I was running the US Paratroopers from the North Africa book. Company HQ- 2 Bazookas. 2 Full Strength Paratrooper Platoons. A Parchute Mortar Platoon. Two M10 Tank Destroyers. Limited Kittyhawk Air Support. And how did it go? But, suc...

The Wars of Pooch: August 2012

http://warpooch.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html

The Wars of Pooch. Friday, 31 August 2012. Bedecon 2012- Russian Assault Guns! So, Russians. There are a lot of very cool Russian Lists, which Craig. Is currently struggling with, but for me, I had always had one list in mind. And it is all based on the ISU-152. With a 152mm gun, firing a massive 2 part shell, capable of annihilating entire buildings! So, a Heavy Assault Gun Company was the only way to go. Painting was all finished up last night, so here is the break down of the force. So, the whole army.

The Wars of Pooch: Building an ASLAV Part 2- finishing the build

http://warpooch.blogspot.com/2013/05/building-aslav-part-2-finishing-build.html

The Wars of Pooch. Saturday, 18 May 2013. Building an ASLAV Part 2- finishing the build. So, building has been completed on the ASLAV, the weather has cleared enough for me to undercoat ASLAV today, so paint should start tomorrow (all going well). So, off to undercoat the ASLAV, hoping to get the paint on it tomorrow. Look Curt, TWO posts! 20 May 2013 at 13:26. Looking good mate. Show us the painted one! 21 May 2013 at 12:19. Nice job on the (covered) wheel and ammo box! 23 May 2013 at 21:27. There are a...

Alea Iacta Est: Bringing RPGs Full Circle

http://than-aleaiactaest.blogspot.com/2014/02/bringing-rpgs-full-circle.html

A blog about the wargames I play - mostly Flames of War, Epic, and Dystopian Wars. Wednesday, 12 February 2014. Bringing RPGs Full Circle. The plan was to repaint them in my chapter colours, but these already came in a cool and very striking black with flame edges scheme. The compromise was to strip and repaint one thunder-hammer and leave the rest as is. Special weapon warrior with Blaster. On the subject of skirmish level games, I've been considering another candidate rules system;. The combat rules us...

Andys Armies: Progress- LOTR and SAGA Terrain plus Crusaders

http://andysarmies.blogspot.com/2013/08/progress-lotr-and-saga-terrain-plus.html

Tabletop wargaming with miniature soldiers. Wednesday, 28 August 2013. Progress- LOTR and SAGA Terrain plus Crusaders. I decided a while back that I needed some new LOTR terrain and I stumbled on Hirst Arts by googling stuff. At first I thought that making the monsterous ruined watchtower thing was the way to go but settled instead on this instead after getting sick of plaster pouring. I have Elves and DolGuldur themed armies so this should hopefully look great with them. especially the Elves. My Crusade...

Harper's Weekly: March 2013

http://refight2013.blogspot.com/2013_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, 3 March 2013. Fire and Fury Markers. The Fire and Fury rules make use of several markers to signify a brigade's or battery's status, order or movement mode during the battle. Some of these markers will be used quite often, others may only be used once or twice through out the whole game! Probably the most common marker used. Any brigade not disordered at some point during a game has not been doing their part! Disorder/ Silenced can be dead or wounded figures. Low on ammunition marker. Often we ju...
