Our Cabin on Washboard Lane. Tuesday, June 12, 2012. Our family's cabin was built in 1971 by our grandfather, Herbert Baker, for him and his wife, Emily, to spend the summers with us, their only two grandchildren, at Province Lake in New Hampshire. We lost the cabin on April 4, 2012, to a fire believed to have started by the winds blowing branches down on the power lines. More than 60 firefighters from all over worked together to put out the fire that took our cabin and five others.
