One Year One Scope: GSSP 2012 Observing Report

http://oneyearonescope.blogspot.com/2012/08/gssp-2012-observing-report.html

Friday, August 24, 2012. GSSP 2012 Observing Report. The Golden State Star Party is a yearly event held under very dark skies near Adin, in Northern California. How dark? It is on the fantastic Dark Sky Finder right on the edge of a black zone. You can look all over California on the map and find only a handful of black sky sites, and most are tiny islands. True, this is on the edge of a grey zone, but compared to my normal semi-dark observing location, Joshua Tree, CA. Forever a piece of me in California.

One Year One Scope: A Better Scope

http://oneyearonescope.blogspot.com/2012/08/a-better-scope.html

Tuesday, August 7, 2012. There are lots of great scopes out there, many better than my workhorse Orion XT8. But each in different ways. I do all sorts of observing, but my favorite objects, the ones I spend the most time observing and go back to again and again, are deep sky objects: Galaxies, Nebula of all sorts, and particularly, globular clusters. Oh the majesty of a beautiful globular cluster! Living in Los Angeles, CA, if I want to see anything aside from the two dozen brightest stars in the sky, I ...

One Year One Scope: Done! : 490 days, One Scope, Few Posts, and First Light

http://oneyearonescope.blogspot.com/2013/12/done-490-days-one-scope-few-posts-and.html

Saturday, December 7, 2013. 490 days, One Scope, Few Posts, and First Light. 490 Days, One Scope. For those of you who may have joined us recently, this blog is called One Year One Scope because that was my plan. You can read all the details here. But the short of it is I wanted to buy/build/find a new telescope in one year. Well, here it is 490 days (1.34246 years) later and I have something like the better scope I set out to build. So I missed my one year goal, but considering I moved to Australia.

One Year One Scope: March 2014

http://oneyearonescope.blogspot.com/2014_03_01_archive.html

Sunday, March 9, 2014. ASV 2014 Messier Star Party. This past weekend I was able to take a day off of work, and head on out to the Astronomical Society of Victoria's. ASV) Messier Star Party. This is an event held around the first new moon in March, at the Leonard Mow Dark Sky Site. The LMDSS is an observing enclave maintained by the Society for the benefit of it's members. and a wonderful benefit it is! As it so happens, about one year ago was my first visit to the LMDSS. Lightning and Stars at the LMDSS.

One Year One Scope: The Geminids and The Astronomical Society of Victoria

http://oneyearonescope.blogspot.com/2012/12/the-geminids-and-astronomical-society.html

Saturday, December 15, 2012. The Geminids and The Astronomical Society of Victoria. So yeah, hmmm. it's been a while since I posted. Looks like it's been almost a month since my last post. And that was just a quick note about moving to Australia for a while. If you discount that, it's been almost two months. It's been a busy time, but I'm finally feeling settled into the new city and the job duties are smoothing out, so I'm hoping to write a bit more. Time and the Geminids. I have several potential solut...

One Year One Scope: April 2013

http://oneyearonescope.blogspot.com/2013_04_01_archive.html

Tuesday, April 2, 2013. One Year One Scope - Now in Australia. A Lot Can Happen in a Year. I posted my first entry. Here on August 5th, 2012, just about seven months ago. This blog was started as a way to record and share my efforts to build My New Telescope. And my plan was to do it in one year. A few weeks before that first post I was at the Golden State Star Party. Maybe even the Riverside Telescope Makers Conference. In May if the telescope was done early enough. For a few months. Recently. Origi...
